Thanks Attilio for your Fine & Quick Response ... I hope you werenae offended by my own opening reponse (jist a bit o' fun) ;)

Some posts (including my own) I do take seriously. But in the same vein, if there is a wee laugh to be had, I try to go for it if pos.

Certainly I'm no really "entrenched" aboot anything (weel maybe a wee bit aboot cricket) But I do realise it would not be popular.

And have such a large following, unless it had a lot to offer. Were you high standard at the game .... Or is that not so important?

Question: Within the team of players are there specialist areas, Bowlers, Batsmen, Wicket-Keepers, Out-Field.? Or awe muck in?

Me? - below average, which accounted for the vast majority of players and teams I played with and against.  Enthusiasm more than talent.  Playing involved a few beers afterwards and watching live games involved beers before, during and afterwards.  Beer was obviously quite high up on the agenda.

Thank you again Attilio ..

From what I have picked up from the sidelines, it seems to be an all-round fun family day for many,  picnic, sanwiches & beer. And that alone, it wid seem to me, to be a good thing ... Whether it's on the "Village Green" or the more "Professional Arena".

An all- round participation sport for anyone/everyone of whatever age/size/ability ... (at least at an amateur level)

Eh mind seeing Scotland beat England a few months ago (Big Surprise & Jubilation at the time) Next day beaten:chaplin:

Cricket is actually a great game to play,  not  so good to watch tbf. I often wish my school had it on the curriculum.

Ours did, once the goalposts were taken down at Dawson Park for the summer....and (unsurprisingly) Iain Phillip was fairly good at it....though he isn't the same guy who played for Scotland.

....I preferred the relative 'excitement' of seeing how many laps of the 1/4-mile running track I could squeeze into the time. :)

Yes, I remember being told Ian Philip was a very good cricketer, county standard I was told.👍
