If davidy or Super Tommy join up, is it possible to know how many are taking advantage of DFC TV? Just wondering what the take has been.

Sure David or Tommy will be able to confirm, have heard its been very popular. During testing and initial launch by the Society we were getting around 85/90 people per game. 52 Exile members

I know one or two who seem to get it without paying! Not very ethical in my view. Club needs the money at least to pay for the maintenance of the service.

I think figures are disappointing to be honest given that there must be thousands of Dees around the globe. how to boost/promote????

Email all fans that club knows of???

Andersong,

Figures may be much higher now, i'm not sure.

The feasibility study that i put together for the service made it viable with only 12 paying viewers a week and that was to recover money spent over 3 years etc

Its not always easy for those around the world due to time differences etc, from my point of view, as long as i was helping a couple of Dundee fans see the game, i was happy

Think we're missing a trick by not promoting it to away fans more. Not sure how we could go about this, but whenever it's mentioned on P&B or the like on game day, there is usually a few opposition fans who like the deal and want to stream as well.

Aslong as it is advertised as for fans outwith the UK...then its ok

I think the service now is excellent and a fiver a time is excellent value. maybe also some fans in the same location get together for beers and stuff watching it so even thought there could be a few watching the same screen its only one fee, but thats fair enough. I would rather watch Dee games with fellow Dee's..

Hello andersong............. Just like yourself, when I first heard the viewing figures for the streamed games,I was surprised, and disappointed they were so low.

I honestly believed there would be a huge uptake for the opportunity of watching live/streamed games.

I know all the guys at the DFCSS put in a power of work, in the organising of the project, and similiarly in getting the new project off the ground. And before the sudden takeover by DFC, I believe they had plans in place to increase game coverage, and extend the service to a wider audience.

Maybe it is still a case of early days and further plans for promoting/developing the service are still being worked on.

I agree with your point on the ethics of watching the stream without paying for it. Knowing the money is for the future of our club, I certainly would not be comfortable watching live/streamed games on a free basis.

Maybe Gedee can elaborate......

Hello Dayster ......  I am not sure just where to go with this on a public forum.........

Firstly Ross, as you know yourself I am no expert on anything too modern, or too techy ...... such as computers, intenet, or streaming, etc.

When initially I searched for information on the why and how, UK based persons could not view streamed games, and if there was a way to overcome this problem, while at the same time paying yourselves or DFC subscriptions, I found most of the answers could be found on the forum from other posters.

I am well aware Ross you yourself took a great deal of time in answering my posts to yourself, and explaining the legalities around streaming games.

And for time and patience you showed me, I would like to thank you again.

For those who could attend home and away games on a regular basis, subscribing to the streaming of games was possibly not such a big issue.

My concern however, was for those DFC fans, based in the UK who could not attend games, because of maybe age, health, disability, or simply distance and location made travelling to games impossible, but were still not allowed to subscribe to games, because of legal reasons.

On the mad forum a few weeks ago I added a post with the intention of assisting someone, to view, and to subscribe to, streamed games ...... a week ot two later I received a post from one of the posters, which was more like an inquisition.

Asking where exactly did I live ..... UK or Abroad ...... and did I receive streamed games ..... basically accusing me, it seemed, of watching games free (untrue) ...... and if I was a resident of UK .....  how could I receive streamed games ?

Ross you will understand why I do not want to go down that road again ...... and I am sure you would be happy yourself to help others in a similiar position.

(apologies for longish post ...... a sensitive area)
