Bizarre Ogs This Weekend

Recommended Posts

Long distance passbacks & throw-ins, two of our 'weak areas'....but it's always reassuring when you see 'top teams' do something even we haven't done (yet!)....

The 'let's just keep possession for a wee while' passback (Man City, WPL)

The 'I'll just take the easy option' throw-in (Stuttgart, Bundesliga)

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45701600    ...a bit unfair to 'credit' the keeper with this one!

....who'd be a keeper, eh

I was really annoyed when we were knocked out the cup because of Gary Irvine's own goal. I never understand why footballers send passes back to the keeper on target.

Apparently at Liverpool, Bob Paisley made it a firm rule that any pass back to the keeper must be either side of the goal to avoid such disasters - common sense

I noticed every other time we passed the ball back that season, we were almost playing them to the corner flag to avoid a repeat!

Stupid little thing to happen but they are human!

It's such an obvious thing to do, to aim your passbacks slightly wide of the goal, it should be ingrained in the minds of any player without needing to be told by their manager.....but then they train all week to "pass to feet", it probably becomes automatic.
