If this was true then it would have been NM idea 100%. If it was the board forcing someone on NM then NM would just rubber whatever advice he was given. Quite rightly as well as he's the boss and if the board are not happy with him then pay him off.

In terms of Duffy, to my mind still one of the best readers of the game defensively when he was a player - even with just one good knee. In my opinion he’d help our defence more than NM or Gartland. Just an opinion though...

Jim Duffy's Dundee teams were never the best defensively. He set us up to score more than the opposition more often than not.

Strange that a defender of his calibre would have us set up this way? Maybe he always wanted to be a striker?

I think Sturrock recommending sh**e players and being convinced that he could entice Craig Wighton to Tannadice, whilst under the influence of a few Sweetheart Stout's, might have been an issue.

Jocky was a flamboyant attacker but his teams were dour and defensive, whilst defender Duffy was the exact opposite.
