On numerous occasions I've read on this forum and Mad that people would like their "match day experience" improved.

I'm intrigued by what that statement actually means. I may have low expectations, but I go to every home game and plenty away and simply want to turn up, get in, watch us win(!) and go home.

Do people want better half-time entertainment?

I agree the food is terrible and over priced (not that I've bought more than the odd Bovril for years).

And that for some the ticketing process for games is a major stumbling block.

There's also a thread on alcohol and the club cannot effect that on their own.

I'm not looking for a bun-fight, or a tit for tat. However taking the food, alcohol and ticketing process out of the equation (they've been covered enough and we come to little consensus) how would people like their match day experience improved?

A multiple of things. But the match day things starts well before you even get to the ground.

It has to be advertised right, promoted properly. Whatever is on its got to be well prompted.

I've been heavily involved in event management and if you advertise a sh*t event is can be good, same goes other way. Great even can be ruined by sh*t advertising.

Then you have to make it welcoming for people. The ground should have posters all round it with the ticket policy, and the closest place to go for tickets, information, stewards outside the ground should be welcoming fans, politely checking bags but still helping to create a decent atmosphere.

When you have over your ticket book to the turn style operator they should be further helping the match day experience.

The stewards at the stop of the stand should again be welcoming, maybe inviting you to buy a program. Maybe have the teams advertised on boards as you enter the stands.

Stewards showing you which direction your seat is in, politely.

Before the game they should have a decent build up. Teams warming up. People not involved in the game could be signing autographs etc.

The food could be improved so I won't go into it.

The game is whatever it is so yeah.

Half time should involve all supporters clubs. Half time draw, scores bring read out, previous players doing draws, etc.

Some music with a build up appropriate.

Second half is what it is.

At the end stewards should be helpful, not trying to push you places. Thanks for coming etc. Should play some music, maybe read out scores etc.

Stewards and police should show a presence but not sloppy in a corner like they do. Walk down each stairs in a uniformed manner to show authority or just be hidden totally until needed.

We could get a section of the derry that's dedicated to singing. Work with police, ground staff etc. Gets drums, flags, banners, scarfs, etc.

The club should get involved in making it better.

I'm with you barkblue, I go to the game to watch football, everything else is window dressing. The pies/drinks are overpriced but personally while I grudge the prices it wouldn't stop me going to the game. Same with the debacle about  where I 'whip out' out ST, its about what happens on the park for me.

You've put a lot of thought into that mate so fair play, I love your idea that players not involved with the game are out and about signing autographs and gladhanding, thats something that costs the club nothing and will stay with young fans for their lives.

My personal matchday experience is get in, keep checking my watch for kick-off time; watch the first half; swear at whoever does the HT draw; keep checking my watch for the second half; watch the second half; go home.

Obviously things are different for people with kids, desperately trying to keep them entertained. But I've never understood the phrase "matchday experience" when applied to adults.

We need to get Wave 102 OUT of Dens....

The half time drivel is.... drivel....

I don't mind it, some of the tunes he's played are representative of the mood. Where could the club get someone at short notice to stand in.........

I agree with Joe DD. Lots of thought put into that, so hugely appreciated.

Personally, I find the stewards (I'm in the Coxy mind) to be exactly what I want them to be. I always say hello to whoever's on the gate I go in and they always say hello back. After that I simply want them to steward the match and leave me be. If we expected them to sell programmes and usher us to seats we'd need to add about four times more than we currently have. Just my opinion mind.)

Agree on having squad members out speaking to the kids pre-game. That sort of stuff used to happen. Great idea. I do like the ex-players coming back at half time, but appreciate that can't happen every game.

As for Wave 102. The music is a bit bland for me, but then I'm not going to hear the sort of stuff I like, so I let it pass me by. The tannoy being a little quieter in the Coxy so we don't have to shout at half time would be good.

Also agree on the advertising, but that should be city wide, as having it at Dens defeats the purpose.

Come to think of it, the tannoy was a hell of a lot louder last week. I wonder if there's a master volume button that they cranked up to fix the Derry, but broke the Bobby Cox at the same time.

I go the ground to watch football... But some don't.

We need to appeal to everyone.

Its a great idea.

Fond memories of standing with my autograph book as a bairn.

I'm at an engagement party, not drinking so hence why I'm able to write that.

I don't want the stewards to do anything more than they already do.

Just do it politer, better and more customer friendly.

There are stewards remember... Not security. Some are, some aren't.

Before every game players should have a window. Say 2pm-2:30 were they meet, greet, interact with future individuals who will pay their wages.
