Can we once again become the number one team in the city in the next 5 years?

Personally I think it will be very difficult due to the last 40 years of incompetence, stupidity and lack of ambition shown by our

various owners.

From the depths of despair we have recently started the long climb back to respectability with new owners and a good young manager, added to this

we have several really good young players on the verge of our first team.

The way Scottish football is, the youngsters will soon be off to pastures new and the cycle of finding replacements and rebuilding the team starts again, which makes winning trophies very difficult, though not impossible.

The breakthrough for me will be when we start to win the Derbies, Quarter final and Semi final games that we always seem to lose, often to sides no better than we are.

Hopefully PH is the man that will get us to that point in our development as a club.

I can't see it. Not within 5 years, in anyway, I'd say 5 years is too short a time to stamp yourself as the 'bigger' club.

As I've always said too, next season will be the harder one for Hartley, that's when we start building.

How will next season be harder?

Surely easier to improve with a decent squad already compared to the end of last season.

I think it will be harder as Hearts are going to be much stronger than either Ross County, Motherwell or St Mirren and should be pushing for top 6 therefore squeezing the chances of making it.

You would think Hibs would be much stronger than any of those 3 also if they make it up or even Rangers despite them being a shambles and looking unlikely to come up so you've got 1 or 2 clubs that are going to be stronger than the 1 or 2 they replace.

Of course, your point stands also.

We should be stronger also.

Motherwell were 12 points better than United eight months ago. Now they're 18 worse than us. If one team's fortunes can change that much in a matter of months then there is no reason why we should consider ourselves, 5, 10 or 15 years behind a team that's a couple of places above us in the league.

Like this positive thinking.

To take the team forward, we need a better standard of player. That comes at not only a price, but also stiffer competition for the signature. This season was always about avoiding relegation. Next season we will be expected to kick on and establish. Plus, if we finish sixth, you'll have absolute glue troopers expecting to better that next year.
