Announcing stuff like this in the press doesn't actually make ay difference. In fact it probably puts more pressure on the manager.

Islay, you're wrong why not just accept it rather than deflect and change the subject? For a whole host of reasons there is no need for the BoD to issue any statement about spending money in January - conversation ended.
