The reaction reminds of when Greg was looking like he would move on..... 12 months later people were begging for him to return. I reckon he scorers screamers in training every day! Maybe today is the day .....the Kamara treble! The angry mob is a strange creature. Hope you're right and we get a pus shutting performance from Kamara today and he goes home with the match ball.
Attilio Posted 29 December 2018 Posted 29 December 2018 Put it this way, if Kamara was to sign a contract extension for us tomorrow I would be over the moon, as would most of us on here I would hazard a guess. Alongside KT, the lad is the best out and out midfielder we have had here in the last 10 years or so IMO. GGH was also class but a different type of player again IMO. Still one of the first names on the team sheet as far as I am concerned and hope he is here until the end of the season - at least.
BCram Posted 29 December 2018 Posted 29 December 2018 Interesting comment from Cobra that we should let him go asap for what we can get. £50k was the figure suggested by Cobra. Why would you decide that a player whose head has been turned away from the club is worth keeping? Seems that it might be best if we did try to provoke a bidding war?
Cobra Posted 29 December 2018 Posted 29 December 2018 Kamara is class when he's in the mood and he could be a big player for us once the window shuts. At this moment in time though I think he's distracted by the possibility of an imminent move so probably best he starts today on the bench. 1

I agree with the sentiments expressed here but feel that what we want is to keep Kamara, but that may not be what Kamara wants. We have tried to keep Hemmings, Stewart and failed, Bain we didn't get an auction going for his services and we lost Hendry in a mixed deal at the end of the window. Perhaps we should try to sell Kamara? What happens if we get an offer for him and he can't agree personal terms? If we got him on our side by trying to help him get a good move might that be a better result?

The bottom line as I see it is that a few clubs may want him but none are prepared to pay a fee when they could get him on a PCA for nothing. Hell probably be our player until the summer then he will be off.

Kane was going to perform for us as long as he was employed by the club. Some guys need to be happy to deliver on the park and that's the feeling I get from Kamara. If he expresses a desire to stay at Dens until the end of the season then great. If he's agitating for a move then we need to get rid of him because he will produce half-hearted displays if he's pissed off and that's going to cost us points.

Not wishing to criticise you at all, I just wonder if there might be something in the background that we do not know and could explain his performance. Footballers can have an off day and simply drift through a game. It isn't acceptable but the better response, IMO, is to address the problem. What is the state of his contract? Have we asked him to extend his contract? Does the club know what he wants? Is he carrying an injury? Some of the answers might give valuable information to the opposition so keeping quiet might well be the best way to deal with the situation, but the player should not be getting grief from us, especially if we want to retain his enthusiastic services at least until the end of the season. That's only my opinion and I quite understand that sometimes a more robust approach is required. 1
