offshoredee Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Being free to find another club and actually leaving may be two different things tho.!?
Mr Sensible Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Unless some obscure foreign team comes in for Moussa we will have him till May.. Hard getting rid of Elton and Madianga unless some obscure English club comes in for them 1
CW 90+3 02/05/16 Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Good news. Not good enough. Pity Mendy and Nabi not on the list. 2
Cobra Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Nabi will probably be released in January when his contract runs out. I'm guessing Moussa, Elton and Madianga have been told they are finished at Dens in the hope they'll prioritise playing over earning money just to train and find a new club.
BigG Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 If the penny does not drop now re recruitment with FPS then it never will, add these players to Vincent, Haber, El bak and Williams who we will still be paying the majority of the wages, it’s a siezable percentage of the playing budget for 7 players deemed not good enough to get a game for the worst Dundee team in recent memory. 4
Notso Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Don’t think we are paying Williams , sure he got a pay off , and signed a new contract at Stanley at the start of the season
Mr Sensible Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Absolutely tragic the signing policy of our past two managers.

Hartley brought in far better and more suited players than McCann. Some forget Hartely's signings in his first and second summers and they were very good, Bain, Stewart, Hemmings, Thomson, McPake to name a few. But he totally lost his way during his 3rd window signing Williams, Yordi etc.. Hartley made us a strong team, but again his 3rd season let him down, did well during his first two seasons though and got us promoted.
Reverend Lovejoy Posted 26 December 2018 Posted 26 December 2018 Reading between the lines it seems that JM is just going to bring in different players rather than the right players, or the ones he wants. He's admitted that January is a tough window and whilst he wants competition in the squad and a freshness he may not get his preferred players. It could take a few windows to get the team he wants on the park.

Hartley was given free reign on the Dens park coffers, for every Stewart and Hemmings, there were 6/7 disasters. The 3 year deals that were handed out are still hurting us to this day. 1

Easy in hindsight to say we should have had him signed Kamara up but if that was the attitude for the McCann era, we would have had a very very costly budget. I think the route to being profitable is just having a very good manager/steady recruitment. I think the signing players for a sell on is a bit of a false theory at this level tbh when you take into account the instability it causes etc. Got to be looking at St Johnstone for inspiration IMO.
