He’ll end up at Ibrox..

I think you might be right. Stewart has arguably impressed more than Jones and it wouldn't be difficult to persuade Birmingham to take something as opposed to nothing.

Is he out of contract this summer or next?

I believe McIntyre is signing the right type of player to keep us up, but anyone who thinks this will bring stability like Livingston have had is not looking forward to next season. Most of these players in the latter years of their careers -  we have Davis (34), Wood (33), Curren ( a sprightly 29), and other possibilities in the early 30's- Gardyne (32)  with McCann's signing Miller (39), we can expect maybe 1-2 more years and then another major overhaul.

Wonder what the cut would be for us if they sold him?

Good question. If his excellent form has got a decent-sized English club interested he could maybe fetch £250k this month.

See Greg Stewart has been recalled by Birmingham.

I said the other day when another a poster (I forget who - apologies) spoke about us building for the future and accepting a mediocre (at best) side during the process, that doing so in the Scottish game is virtually impossible unless (but even if) you are Celtic, Rangers or to a lesser extent Aberdeen.

Any player shows good form or a bit of promise and they are fair game. That's Killie lost Stewart and, effectively, Jones for the rest of the season, so how can they 'build' anything?

I'm not saying it's ever been any different, but the short termism in the Scottish game isn't just down to the small league, the threat of relegation and fan impatience. That's now Hibs (numerous times), Motherwell, United, and to a lesser extent us who have all looked to be on the verge of having really decent teams only to have the best players stripped away and have to start again. Utterly soul destroying and no wonder some managers go from looking like geniuses to idiots in a matter of months.
