bjs Posted 24 January 2019 Posted 24 January 2019 The irony of our loan signings is that st mirren lost there best player in Adam hammill to Scunthorpe, them signing him probably allowed them to loan Dales to ourselves and that might have also got further discussions going between McCall and McIntyre about a right back or right sided midfielder. Lets hope this guy has the same impact that Deing, Curran, Dales and Nelson have had. 1

Dundeefc93 Posted 24 January 2019 Posted 24 January 2019 Still think another 3 is needed for the squad???

Cavorter Posted 24 January 2019 Posted 24 January 2019 Positive that in the past 24 hours we've brought in two players who appear to be comfortable playing in the middle of the park (and somewhere accross the back line) in Horsfield and Hadenius, however I still believe we need one more for that position (assuming Kamara has downed tools) - if it's McCrorie or Rossiter from Greyskull then so be it. If Horsfield proves to be a decent RB, might we see Kerr oust Jesse at RM? 1
SM1893 Posted 24 January 2019 Posted 24 January 2019 Looking at the guys we have brought in and the impact they made last night v Hearts there seems to me to that the major difference in signing guys on permanent deals / bringing them in on loans is that JM has spoke to coaches / managers and not agencies / management companies like NM seems to have done. I would hope that NM didn’t do that exclusively when he brought in the wave of guys he did. He got away with it a bit because Kamara is a very good technical player and Deacon started off brightly but was eventually found out. Curran, Davies and Woods are all known to JM so straight away he can get them to hit the ground running. Up until Woods played alongside Gowser he looked like he was ticking along nicely. Possibly just a bad game. Dieng, Dales and Nelson are improvements on what we have / had and will likely get better as they settle in. Hadenius and Horsfield are possible solutions to problem areas and are versatile, with being able to play at the back and in midfield. It will be interesting to see how many of the loan guys we try to get permanently if we stay up. As positive as I’m feeling after last nights result, we need to go full cliché and take it one game at a time.
Huggs66 Posted 24 January 2019 Posted 24 January 2019 What a difference 4 days make, we were all worried after the QOS game as we were so poor, our new lads have injected a lift into the team and we are all seeing Opportunity, the old guard are having to step up as the quality that has come in will have them looking over the shoulder and rightly so. Motherwell are always tough and we will be in for a battle as they will see this as an opportunity to leave the bottom 3 isolated. If the result is in our favour we can also drag them into the battle. Would still like to see a solid midfielder who is familiar with the Scottish game. Kamara may be one of our better players but JM is not leaving him out without good reason. When you consider how rank Deacon has been and he is still on the bench then there is a logic. I had my head on Hearts (draw), Motherwell (draw), QOS (??) Hamilton (win) Killie (draw), would still settle for a draw with Motherwell a win again QOS may allow a bit more spending based on the Tv rights for the next round.
Ricky Spanish Posted 24 January 2019 Posted 24 January 2019 Dabs trying to sign Peter Pawlett......just when you think you can't hate someone anymore.....well suited them 1
Spiritof62 Posted 24 January 2019 Posted 24 January 2019 With the Gersbtitle hopes taking a knock last night, they just might do a loan deal to get him in sooner rather than later.

Wonder about the psychology of a loan deal. Seems to me it would be a big step down for a Rangers player to come to us, at least in their mind. don't think Allen was particularly effective for a large part of his time with us and I just wonder if there any cases where a loan of a player from Rangers or Celtic has really benefited us. Genuinely interested to be reminded of any major success stories.
