With no action for the big teams this weekend I thought it might be worth a look to see how our lower league neighbours are getting on as the dabs host Partick.

The Jags have one win and 10 defeats from their last 13 games, which is quite incredible given they had the same budget as us last season and just 18 months ago finished a top six team in the Premiership with Archibald a contender for Manager of the Year. Maybe today will be the day they finally get their act together because their team looks pretty decent.

United recently were gubbed 5-0 at home by Ayr United and last week were outclassed by the mighty Alloa Athletic. Hopefully the wheels are about to come off once again.

Doolan almost makes it 2 but Siegrist makes a fine save.

GGH almost gets the second with a looping header but the keeper makes the save.

Storey and Spittal both denied by the keeper as United somehow get to the break only one goal down.

Doolan wastes another chance before Harkins is denied by the keeper again. Partick should have this game sewn up by now.

Dabs given a penalty. 1-1.

Aiden Nesbitt "draws" a foul in the penalty area. In legal football terms,  what does that mean.

Young Dee Dan Jefferies comes off the bench for the Jags. Come on Dan. Give us a winner!

Finishes all square. Harkins helps Jags to their second away point of the season but they go bottom of the table as Falkirk picked up a surprise win at Somerset.

Will we get league derbies again next season? If so in which league? Very hard to say at this stage.

A bizarre day in the 'fizzy pop league', as our neighbours used to call it.

County get done by Morton (who move into the top 4) on Friday, setting up a chance for the others to catch up, but....

  • Ayr (minus Shankland), lose to the most unlikely of away winners, Falkirk, who had a rush of new signings earlier this week.
  • Partick raise their game to come close to a win at Tannadice, probably think the point is a good start to the year, but find they're now bottom & a point adrift.
  • Inverness confirm they're no longer the draw specialists, as they slump to another defeat, and drop from 4th to 6th.
  • Dobbie strikes again, to lift QoS above Caley.

......and those jammy arabs are now a point closer to the top two teams  :slaphead:

Callum Davidson for next Pars Manager......that's my guess.

Hopefully the change brings them 3 points on Saturday.

Crawford either has the job in the bag or someone has put a decent amount of money on it.

McCann joint third favourite for the job. Is McCann even interested in staying in management?

Crawford 1/6
Shields 12
Archibald 16
Young 16
McCann 16
Petrie 20
Hartley 25
McNamara 25
Robertson 25
Yogi 25
Goodwin 25
Aitken 25
Pressley 25
Clark 25
Bowyer 25
Cox 25
Slade 25
Derry 25
Strachan 25
Moyes 33

Yeah, hes said so in a few interviews since leaving.

Is that Lee Bowyer in your list?

Gary Bowyer. He did an impressive job at Blackpool but quit after one game this season because the club is a basket case.

Dobbie has Queens ahead against County. It's a bit worrying to see him in such impressive goalscoring form ahead of their visit to Dens in a week.

Also, with County and Ayr both losing form it could gift United the title.

Checking line ups on  BBC. No Shankland and Ayr only have 4 substitutes instead of 7 !!

It's quite hard to predict who'll win that league. United have one win in 5 and drawing today, Ayr have one win in 6 and also drawing today while County are heading for their second successive defeat and no other team looks capable of challenging.

Queens now two goals ahead.

Queens three up now. They are routing the league leaders and hitting form at the wrong time (for Dundee).

Queens form a bit of a concern ahead of the cup tie. Ayr apparently missing 5 first team players (including Shankland) today. Things going the arabs way again today so far apart from them not scoring against the Pars.

County are unravelling. They're down to 10 men.

Hopefully the managerless Pars take something off United. Otherwise the dabs will be thinking this is their year.
