While I think this is a horrible idea I don't think it will have a disastrous impact on the game. Big clubs playing midweek league games more often isn't the end of the world.

It might be ok (ie, less of a disaster for the smaller clubs/leagues) if they have the CL games in the weekend evenings, leaving all the other clubs in their leagues free to play on Sat/Sunday mid-day/afternoons. UEFA won't allow any of the top leagues to play in direct competition to the CL, as today.

It's beginning to sound like it won't be long till the CL becomes a 'closed shop' for the select 'huge clubs', who might even end up with a separate 'B' team in their domestic league. 

If, however, the CL games were to be played on weekend afternoons, I could see this having a detrimental effect on most of the top leagues, outside the top half dozen, whose games would have to be played midweek, or early/late in the weekends....both options might all but kill the numbers of away fans, or home fans who don't live locally.

I've already stopped watching CL/Europa/EPL & live SPL games, partly boredom, partly to stop wasting money....but if half Dundee's games were to be midweek/evening, I suspect I'd only be going to the few that remained on Sat daytime.

I'd p*ss myself laughing, though, if entry to the 'European Super League' required EU membership
