Relegation Battle

Not sure where to discuss St Mirren and Hamilton games so created a thread.

Saints visit Tynecastle today and Accies host Rangers tomorrow.

The league table is looking a lot better than a few months back. It could still be a decent weekend for us if the other two lose simply because it's one week closer to the end of the season.

It looks we're in a critical period for the relegation battle. We have a five point cushion over St Mirren but face Rangers, Celtic and Hearts before going to Paisley on March 30th. The Buddies will no doubt be hoping to climb above us by the time we play that six-pointer as they have a decent run of fixtures against Livi, Killie and St Johnstone to come.

This topic's likely to have a lengthy lifespan, right to the last weekend, unfortunately....but probably a good place to keep running (a sticky?), to debate our progress v the other two.

Much as I'd love to see us gradually pick up points to open a healthy gap, I suspect we'll reach the split with all 3 clubs close enough for a couple of games to change the picture. We can, of course, do a lot to help our case by 'simply' winning our remaining 3 games with those two...but just like last week, a surprise point will be picked up here & there, by any of the three.

I think we've seen a lot in our last few games to be positive about, and a wee bit more confident of our survival......but I can't lose the feeling we really blew a good chance to get a wee step ahead, last night....just a point, but enough.

However, a couple of good defeats for Hamilton & St.M today, to keep us in 10th place, will be great.....not a Carlsberg weekend, but maybe a half-pint of Tennants. Better than nothing ;)

St Mirren playing some worryingly good football. A fine exchange of passing and Hearts are lucky to escape as a couple of dangerous crosses are fired in.

Christ almighty. A real stramash in the St Mirren box as Hearts have about four or five shots but the keeper makes some stunning saves and Saints survive.
