Dundee are looking to tie up a number of swift deals following their swoop for Rory Loy.

Dark Blues boss Paul Hartley is desperate to get most of his major business done prior to the end of the present campaign. And it’s understood the club are in talks with a host of out-of-contract players, including Alloa left-back Daryll Meggatt, who could all sign similar pre-contract deals to the one penned by Loy.

Falkirk frontman Loy has put pen to paper on a deal which will start when his contract at the Championship promotion chasers ends. Despite it not being announced, it’s expected the 26-year-old frontman’s deal will run until the summer of 2017.

Paul admits the club are set to be active in the market this summer. Although he concedes they may not be quite as active as last summer when the incomings hit double figures. A lot depends on the where the Dark Blues finish. Getting into the top six is not the be all and end all for Dundee but Paul says it will have a big influence on their budget for next season.

He said: “The top six matters financially. When you get in there it makes things a little easier. What you can offer people in terms of contracts improves. A lot of things will hinge on that in terms of what players we bring in. We want to get our business done as early as we can but we will have to wait and see where we are over the next few weeks.â€

Meanwhile, the manager is hoping for some good news on the fitness front this week.

Paul has been down to the bare bones in terms of selections in recent weeks but he’s praying for a boost ahead of the trip to Dingwall on Saturday, with the potential return of centre-half Kostadin Gadzhalov and striker Luka Tankulic to his matchday 18.

“Hopefully, we will get a few back this week,†he said. “We’re not too worried because after the Ross County game we have some time to recover. If we get everybody back and fit, we have a very strong squad here. Kosta may be back and Luka could return, too.

“We don’t know yet, we will have to wait and see. We will not know until Thursday, probably.â€
