In the Business section of today’s Sunday Times there is an article headed ‘Football season ticket holders hit by bank closure. 

The article states that tens of thousands of football fans looking to renew season tickets using instalment loans could face difficulties after one of Britain’s oldest banks stopped lending. 

Raphaels founded in 1787 has ceased providing lending Zebra one of the biggest providers of season ticket loans. Zebra dishes out almost 100,000 season ticket loans a year to fans of 80 football clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United (and Dundee). Zebra also offers financing to about 10,000 golfers each year to fund club membership and provides loans for rugby, cricket and Formula one tickets. 

The article further states that Zebra has been searching for alternative funding which it has failed to secure resulting in Zebra putting its staff on redundancy notice.
