Yes we should always be playing with two strikers especially in this competition until the later stages. Also in the league. 4 4 2 diamond, or 3 4 3.

We should be playing 3-4-3 against lower league side's, defending higher up the park and stretching them across the park to create the space eto play in.

He did also say that he's on hand to advise anyone who may need it and used Nelms needing help with a transfer as an example. Not exactly the same thing as being full-on involved in the recruitment process, but not a stretch to think that should Nelms/McPake ask him to help with getting a certain player through the door, he'd be more than willing to do so.

Swap McPake for Nelms and that's more or less what I posted.

Yes, as I understand it too, Rev👍 + Ricky Spanish's comment above....."happy to help, if requested by JN/JMcP"

He pretty much said that he'll remain in the background unless he's asked to get involved. He won't go poking his nose in where it might not be wanted, or needed. Good to have him there if someone feels his opinion/experience might be of benefit though.

Aye, was just reiterating what you said but adding in the recruitment angle, how whilst he won't be fully involved with bringing players in, acknowledged in his presser that he will help with that should Nelms ask. 👍

The problem now with signing 4-5 players is getting them bedded in with the squad and finding best lineup and formation, that's what preseason is for but we have left it too late as usual

Far too sensible a comment on here btw.

But we now surely have to hope that we are not too far behind come October/November. And then can go for it when the season really starts after the January 2020 transfer window 😉

Hopefully we have our eye on a few players that are just waiting to see what their best offer is. I don't think players need lots of bedding in time. It's simple. You're either good enough or you aren't.

Livy showed last season the benefit of playing a consistent defence. Already we're having to  chop and change. Raith we had Meekings and McGhee, midweek it was McGhee and Forster, today it was Meekings and Forster. Already we've had McDaid, Todd, Curran and Ness out through poor form or Injury. The quicker we find a settled side and system the better. Cove and Peterhead showed how difficult they were to play against with a settled team.

To be fair I think the 3 CH have been rotated to get them all game time agree re the midfield though, apart from ness, Byrne and Gowser I’m not sure what the plan is. We look very narrow
