would like some info on how our club recruits players. do we sit back and get agents bringing their players to us, or do we actually look around for ourselves?

St Johnstone will offer Blair Alston a new deal to fight off interest from Dundee and Hamilton.

The midfielder is out of contract next month and Perth boss Tommy Wright is set to open discussions over an extension.

Dundee have already made a pre-contract offer but that was a two-tier option and those terms will now be reduced after the Dark Blues’ relegation from the top flight was confirmed at the weekend.

Hamilton are also keen and have held talks, as Brian Rice is a big fan of the 27-year-old who previously worked under the Accies gaffer at Falkirk.

Wright and Saints have already lost out to Motherwell in pre-contract moves for Inverness midfielder Liam Polworth and Livingston defender Declan Gallagher.

Mark O'Hara free to leave Peterborough. Would take him back in a heartbeat. Height, strength and ability to make driving runs in to the box. I know it's hard to believe but there are players like that out there 😂😂

I think we should focus on younger players. The real talent. Some will make it some won't. The best we can sell and then replace.

Mix in a couple of slightly older heads and there you go.

Let's not expect to go back up next season or possibly the next.

Ryan McGowan released from Bradford. Would definitely be worth keeping on for the championship although he might have better offers elsewhere. No world beater but solid enough.

Nah waste of time. Get a decent young defender in. Get a manager who is good at developing young players. It's a no brainer but of course Nelms doesn't have one.

I think, Wattie, if TK/JN go for a 'management restructure' & get the right kind of progressive manager/assistant team, then the scale of our rebuild is maybe going to have to include paying modest fees for 2-3 good 'rising star' players from the lower leagues....the way we used to do business.

If the proposed change to the 2010/21 Championship to 12 goes ahead, no relegation next season will provide a 'safe' rebuild year. We need to get this one right.

of course, that's a no brainer. It's so obvious my dead gran could see it. That's why we need a proper DoF.
