The boy Robson, who I mentioned in an earlier post, played left back for Falkirk last season. Coincidentally he's just left them too.

And friendly with Nelson too.

Pie and Bovril have him signing for Thistle but they thought McGhee was going elsewhere.

Shankland signing for United this week allegedly

Just read online deal at Sunderland has been completed, just waiting to be announced.

Hemmings failed to deliver for a mid-table League One side down south after banging them in for Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.

Shankland is going to be expected to score regularly for the biggest club in League One after coming from the Scottish Championship. That's a hell of a jump.

So far so good. Two young lads proven in this league and with the potential to get better.

McPake seems to be thinking long-term. Hopefully he can build a team to get us promoted and one that can also deliver in the top flight. Livi have shown what can be achieved.

Just watched him score a terrific goal for Falkirk on STV News, dragging the ball inside from the right just outside the box, and curling a low left foot shot round a defender & just inside the keeper's right post.

I'd imagine he's versatile enough to play anywhere across the back....but wouldn't want to see Cammy moved to the left again.

If Cammy is moved then I’d imagine it will be to holding midfielder, or right mid with a back three rather than to the left back slot.

Heard we’re in for Jamie Ness. Released from Plymouth this summer. Maybe keen on a move back to Scotland.

It's the middle of June and that's us brought in a defender (McGhee) and two attacking midfielders (McDaid and Todd). All three impressed in the Championship last season so they should hopefully be able to slot right in and make an early impact.

McGhee is a leader who is strong defensively while both McDaid and Todd will bring creativity to the side. McPake seems to be doing a decent job so far of addressing our biggest weaknesses from last season.

I like the fact that there's no rumours. We just keep it quiet and sign them. Good policy. McPake is obviously inexperienced but he's seen first hand what not to do from our last 2 numpties!

This. Looked a real player when he broke through at Ibrox. Would add some much needed height to the midfield and from what I remember, was excellent on the ball.

Echo the above, a very astute signing fae jazza! Looks to be quite versatile at the back too, I wonder if he’s going to be predominately played at CB or is he more suited to the right back role?

Be interesting once we get a full squad together, what formation JMP is gonna go with this season.. actually canna wait already, two really good signings so far imo

Roll on 💙

We learn from our experiences and we learn more from the bad ones, I'm impressed with how we're going, I get that a lot of us want the player rollercoaster to be going a bit faster but if he's signing the known quantities now and looking to unearth a gem with the trialists on the trip to Spain then fine. I'm assuming he'll be taking a punt on at least one or two, its how we've rolled with FPS, happy to find the next Nathan Ralph or Glen Kamara or dare I say it..... (dare, dare) Jack Hendry.... and move them on for some folding stuff.

Didn’t realise he was 28. Remember him too breaking through at Ibrox. Certainly would add some decent experience and presence. As an aside, when I read the article relating to his release from Plymouth I noticed Kyle Letheren has been offered a new deal by them. Doing alright eventually after falling down and out of the English leagues to York city a couple of years after leaving us.

6 foot 2.5 inches. We could do with a monster in midfield.

Considering McPake made resigning Cammy a priority I very much doubt he'll replace him with McGhee. I'd guess that McGhee will play centre back and act as cover at right back if needed.

Possibly but still think we needed another centre half anyway, especially who can cover other defensive position. Ecen If Waddell signs up I'd still be looking to sign another centre half if Davies moves on as that would give us 4 with the option of playing 352 at times.

We need 4 CH's in the squad IMO so Meekings, McGhee, Waddell and Davies should see us covered well.

I don't remember Ness being particularly tall but I could be mistaken.

I had a look at his stats and it seems he's not had too many injuries in recent years.

Davies turns 35 this year. His career has been blighted by injury. He's not going to be able to play week in week out for Dundee this season so I imagine he'll be quite happy to be a rotation option. He does have impressive leadership qualities and loads of experience so I don't think McPake will want to get rid.

Meekings hasn't played a full season since 2014/15 so we'll be lucky to get 20 games out of him as well.

I actually think we'll need to add a centre-back myself rather than let one go. I don't think McGhee is a natural at CB and Waddell's form has been very erratic at times. It could be a problem position for us this season.
