What? Right across the whole world?

Every league has teams 'under achieving'.

Every team can't be on top... but often the ones that aren't have poor managers

Now that I agree with 100%. However, if it 'isn't rocket science', then surely every club would have a good manager?

And therefore, if there are lots of poor managers around, then that would suggest that football management is quite difficult.

Not everyone wants to go into foot despite the money...

I'm not sure what you're getting at there mate.

There are thousands of teams out there and therefore thousands of managers. Only a handful ever really become great managers and way less than half even manage to become good managers.

That in itself would suggest it's quite difficult. You've to man manage, deal with the press, identify targets, discuss contract lengths, keep an interest in a youth system, deal with a board of directors, spend your budget wisely, choose and then implement tactics, keep players who you are not playing happy, draw up training programmes, identify how you want to structure pre-season and a million other things I doubt we're aware of.

Rocket science? Well, no, much though we'd like to, we don't send anyone into space (although we seem to sign enough space cadets), but then neither is it particularly straight forward.

Even the system you are advocating (which I'm not opposed to) of bringing through and then sticking with youth is fraught with danger. Will they all be good enough? Can a team of youngsters live up to their promise mentally week in week out when faced with the baying Dens crowd and Championship hatchet men? And if all these players can do that, then what do we do when the big clubs swoop down on them and sign them for a pittance? Hope that the next batch are ready or do we all agree then that the couple of years it might take to become a decent side full of youth becomes 4 years, then 6 and then... well you get the drift.

There are harder jobs out there, but if being a football manager was easy then a huge amount of them wouldn't get sacked every year.

Wighton on loan? At least we know he'd be up for it, unlike so many anonymous loanees.

I really think we need some young players in the team too, if they're good enough. Seek of all these hardened pros going through the motions. And play with some freedom... look at Liverpool last night, that fourth goal. It doesn't matter what level you're playing at, this kind of style has to be encouraged. We start next season with a clean slate so no reason to shut up shop, or attempt to, and bore the pants off everyone. If JM thinks as he comes across, ie, a plank of wood, he shouldn't be here.

Nah waste of time. Get a decent young defender in. Get a manager who is good at developing young players. It's a no brainer but of course Nelms doesn't have one.

McGowan would be a good solid signing for that level and is a very experienced player . As much as we would like us to see some youngsters coming through that’s not always possible and we can’t just fill the team with young boys. We need some experience in the team and McGowan would fit that bill for me.

"Anonymous". Spot on. There is plenty talk about Keys throwing money for players. All we ever get is anonymous guys who would struggle to get into the reserves in Div. 2. Look at the amount of signings by McCann and McIntyre - how many were ever heard of before.

This surely is the manager's fault. A bit like McCann.

Said it before on here but how many real 'names' have come up as available in recent transfer windows and we don't make a move for them; or is our so-called pot of gold so small in reality that we just revert to bottom-of-the-barrel guys.

Too many journeymen players, (I use the word, ' players'  here reluctantly), and no quality.

There's no loyalty at Dens either. How many young local lads are here. No hard core of Dee supporting players. Just here for a wage and if it doesn't work out, there's always some naive so-called manager picking his team by viewing videos to offer a job.

Lets go for at least a couple of proven guys to build a team around, even if it costs. *

Compared to our free scoring strikers this year ?

He only got 6 in the championship for partick this year but that was in a poor team and we all know he's better than that. 32 though, i'd give him a year at that level
