Aye, well, G, the image that pops up in the minds of Aiberdeenshire dwellers when someone mentions a 'cottage', is usually the typical granite hovel wi' the cattle-sharing byre tagged on the back, and 4 wee dormer windaes & a skylight upstairs.

To the southern aristocracy, brought up in a 'house' that's bigger than a Laird's castle, or even Buck Hoose, the concept of a 'cottage' would need to have been designed by the clever chap who thought up the Tardis.

Apologies Wood' is eh'm going a wee bit aff topic ... But the truth is, it may seem by my chosen topic, I've really got my "daunder up" aboot this kind of Royal Expenditure & what I see as their unfair (unearned) income .. And the general inequality in our society. Actually, the passing of time, has reconciled me to the fact now, that this seems to be the way of the world & as eh dinnae want to get awe political  ... Let's jist say, me introducing above topic, was jist me "passing the time"

However going back to the "cottage idea" I did intentionally use this word to describe "their hoose" ... Because tae oor, auld fashioned way o 'thinking, a "cottage" wis exactly how you described above. (Maybe Harry's Grannie. could have giving him an extra twa million or so, oot o' her annual £84 M tae mak their "cottage" a wee bit bigger and mair comfortable, whilst at the same time giving a more realistic reflection & reminder, of their great value, status & importance to us "common fowk"

(Moving totally awa fae them for a minute) ... Eh dinnae watch daytime tv, but when it happens to be on, I always seem to see thon property programmes, whar people are getting shown hooses, they may wish to buy. When it's in the London area, the presenter cannae seem to wait, to show the prospective buyer ... "The great value fae the roof" And they in turn, seem duly impressed & amazed at the "incredible view around them" .... MAIR HOOSE ROOFS !!

(Am I missing something here?)

Eh've jist got a relatively wee hoose. And aroond me, eh can see within a few hundred yards...

Felds, hills, beaches, coastlines, boats (In Moray Firth) sometimes even deers, coos & sheep ...

But sadly .... I've nae roof views :tears:

I ended up in an exclusive club in Chelsea one night some years ago that was frequented by the likes of Prince Harry. I bought a round of four drinks and it cost me £120. I think they just add a zero and folk who are obscenely rich (or living off the taxpayer) just agree to pay whatever the bill says.

Probably cheap at the price.

Attilio if I read the link right, I think part of the renovation involved tae mak it into a "Cosy Cottage"

involved knockin doon FIVE ither hooses. Maybe as you suggest, they've got an eye for a bargain:chaplin:

JINGS, EH HOPE THEY'RE NO "ROUGHIN IT" :sadno:

Most people on here Cobra will know I hold strong political views ...

But I respect all other political views (although not necessarily agree with them)...I also respect the policy of the forum.

So, I don't want this topic to turn into a thread on "Party Politics" But it's fair to say, "things just don't feel right at times"
