Once again our main strikers fail to score-against a 4th tier team of trialists. IMO we should now be putting most of our energy into finding striker We seem to have a good enough team at the moment to compete in this league., so our priority must be a striker. Even from here it looks like it will be a hard job that's why it needs extra effort.

Bit early for this

Nelson is a quality finisher, Curran is a workhorse who should hopefully create chances for others and McPake has said he's actively working on bringing in two more striking options.

We've signed some goalscoring midfielders so I'm not overly concerned at the moment about where the goals are going to come from. I don't see it being a problem for us this season.

Agree we need at least 1 striker asap but need to get the right boys. Id rather start with what we have and sign someone quality in August that sign more Tanks, Jordis or Moussas. Quality players will be waying up / waiting on offers and won't rush into signing if they think they can get something better. I'm confident we'll get at least 1 striker in that we're all happy with.

I doubt we'll ever have any player, in any position, that we're all happy with.

There'll always be someone that dislikes any given player whether it's because they don't rate them or because they're only 5' 9" - somebody will find something to dislike them over.

Need the right guy and not just hang striker so give it time

Everybody wants "the right guy" but I;m not so sure we have time to give it.. The season starts in 2 weeks,  (or do we wait till we're dumped out of the Betfred again before looking for a striker) Unlike Cobra I don't see Nelson as a quality player and we all know that Curran is not going to score, this is why as I read it we should be focusing more on a striker.

Several things came out of today's game.

Their keeper had a magnificent game with some outstanding saves.  There were also a lot of last ditch blocks by defenders so I wouldn't be too harsh at this time on our forwards and midfielders..

However, we had countless corners and made nothing of them and the goal we conceded came from inattention, followed by a simple cross and a goal. Our inability to defend crosses has gone on for years and we have to hope that we become more commanding at the back.

Correct me if I'm wrong here mate but you seem to be inferring that there will be a lot less "last ditch blocking" in future games. If so, I think your being a little bit naïve there. There will be lots of that coming up, I just hope they learn to counteract it.

We could've scored 6 today. We were up against a team of trialists who were fighting to win permanent deal and we were 1 week into pre-season training. We fielded 2 teams, with no-one playing 90 mins. 9 of the 22 were youths, with a couple of 16 year olds showing up really well. We had 2 of our new players watching from the dugout and a mixture of senior and youth players on the park in each half. Curran, who played higher up the park than he has previously, looked much more likely to get on the score sheet than he did when deployed as a target man. We were searching for match fitness, which won't happen overnight. We played some neat passing football and won comfortably. We'll sign strikers when the right men become available but even without them, at full strength, we'll be more than a match for the Scottish teams we'll face in the coming weeks.

Think Cameron, Robertson and Mulligan will all be in and around the match day squads this season. Really exciting prospects.
