Can Dfc (Ph And Us) Look Forward Positively To Next Season ? ?

If I can say, if you have anything negative to say on this topic, please keep in to the minimum.

Big happy positive, responsive posts ......are definitely welcomed :)

PH just recently said he still has his eye on the top six ....... and why shouldn't he ?

But realistically to get us where we are now, for me (and probably him) is just wonderful.

This season for me and many others was all about consolidation, being safe. It's looking good.

I am really, even as early as this, looking forward to next season and these are my reasons.

Not only because PH, with the experience of a Premiership Season behind him, will be an even better manager for DFC, but because towards the start of the new season, he will have that bit more freedom, and confidence, to move on players, that do not fit into his plans, and (within financial limitations) be able to replace them with (fitter/younger) players, who will more easily adapt to his system.

If any DFC members out there, can suggest again, players whose contracts are coming to an end, and may not be considered as part of our ambitious clubs future......please post.

I think we have a lot to look forward to next season :)

I think we have advanced, we have a better standard of player and some excellent lower league players have developed into Premier standard players. I think tactically PH is still learning, he makes good choices and some that are questionable. He seems to be able to spot a player and I still believe he has never had a chance to play his preferred side, he has built up the development team with some promising signings who we should start to see getting game time next season. Having supported the club for over 50 years you learn to expect ups and downs, we are on an up and I believe we can be a top six side for many years to come, we have a tremendous loyal moaning support! I can't really see any side challenging the financial power of Celtic, but we could be up there with Aberdeen, United, Hearts and Hibs if we continue to develop. I expect the smaller clubs to reach their level, they benefited greatly from the structure of the Premier league, but i see the traditional clubs being the bedrock of our game, and clubs like Ross County should be in the lower leagues. Us getting out of the Championship and consolidating our place in the top league are vital and will bring us the cash needed to stay up there. Rangers are finding out how hard it is to get out of that division. The past few years have been torture, especially watching from far away. We are on our way up, lets celebrate the good times and look forward to even better :-)

Fine, positive response there GordonDee, and I don't think there is one word there I disagree.with ......Good Post.

Like yourself, with Dundee, I have experienced the good times with our club, and suffered with the rest, through those dark, dismal ,times, especially when we wondered if we would still have a club to support.

How far we can go in the years ahead, is still to be seen. But I honestly believe, we are on the move.   Upwards of course.

As said, even as early as this, I am looking forward to the progress, next season may bring with it for DFC :) :)

Personally, I cannot wait for next season. He'll empty the last of the squad he walked in to. He'll bring in players he wants and (hopefully) he'll have learnt lessons from this season.

Plus - we'll hopefully have Hibs & Hearts whilst releasing gutter like St Mirren and Ross County.

Looking forward to next season as well.  Hopefully a few away trips to Edinburgh will be on the cards  and we can scrub Ross County.  It will be really interesting to see who PH brings in.  I think it is fairly obvious who may well be let go at the end of the season and I would imagine, like Rory Loy, PH will probably have targets lined up.  I hope we aren't waiting to see where we finish before starting to commit to players.

My gut feeling was that PH always had a higher finish than 10th in mind and why not.  The teams above us generally have more settled sides imo and are rarely second guessing which players are going to be fit from week to week.  Certainly not in the numbers we have been dealing with anyway.

Our players are already thinking about next season. The bottom four teams won today because they have something massively meaningful to fight for. Whether we like it or not, top six doesn't matter anywhere near as much to our players as survival means to Motherwell, St Mirren and Ross County players. That much was painfully evident today.

Disregarding all that, we are going to be a Premiership club next season, we're going to sign good players and we're probably going to have a really good manager in place, so we have every reason to feel good about the future.

I think we've done what has been needed.

Get a squad together capable of winning the league, then don't get too sentimental when it comes to half of them go.

Put together a squad with enough experience, youth and flair to make an impact on the top league and get away from the bottom with room to spare.

Then take a step back, improve the squad again, introduce some of the younger players coming through and kick on again.

For the first time in a long time, we seem to have a plan.

On the basis that Loy, Meggat and maybe S. McGinn will be signed for next year, that only leaves us needing a winger (or two) and a centre half (maybe).  Can't see many of the boys who were signed last summer on two year deals leaving this summer unless they choose to themselves.  Might need a new back up keeper as well if Letheren decides to move on.

There are only a hand full of player that I would even think of keeping for next season, we need to get rid of players that cost too much and give little on the playing front

Crikey, you'd think we were bottom of the league the kicking you've given the team today.

I think we're ahead of where most would have accepted pre-season.
