Would imagine if Dyer was to go PH would want 2 players in even if Irvine can play at LB if required (if he is also here next season of course) which IMO he deserves to be.

I can only assume that Dyer won't be in PH plans after this season. Considering he has played second fiddle to a right back for most of this season and only seems to be playing because of injuries or suspension.

Me and my mate were trying to predict a team for next season and joking a bit.

One of our predictions was that Stewart would be sold but we'd use money to sign Holt and Durnan but also sign Meggatt.

Holt can play wing back and Durnan has vren good this season in a back three. Meggatt has also been touted as a good centre back.

---------------------Bain----------------
-----Durnan-McPake-Meggatt-----
McGinn---------------------------Holt
----McGowan Thomson McGinn--
------------------Harkins---------------
--------------------Loy-------------------

We were joking but maybe not far off?

EDIT: Sorry Loy

This compensation stuff is pretty confusing. There aren't set rules (apart from 10k maximum for a players first three years at a club and then compensation calculation stops at 21) and it seems we can only go by other cases.

I don't know if this comes into it but his birthday was in January and he'd turned 21 in January of last year. Up to that point, he'd played 19 games in his breakthrough season (in and out of the team) at second tier level, 34 as a regular in third tier and another 25 as a regular in the second tier.

Maybe their relegation let's us screw them a little but I really don't know.

Might be the case that it's around £100k or so and we just agree say Wighton loan for a season and pay something like £70-80k.

If you think about it, a fee like that is achieveable by having a player or two less. We've have quite a big squad in previous seasons and a lot of players who have really contributed nothing. St Johnstone, for example, have only had 14/15 first team players at the start of the season.
