"Dens Park Stadium Buy Back"........ Who Would Commit to Contributing ?

Firstly, I should say, I am not a "Money Man" ...... either on a personal level, or in the general understanding of business finance, shares, investment, returns etc. etc.

But it seems to me that although any discussion to find if there is any support for a  Dens Buy Back, might help in giving some indication of the level of interest, the only way it will, or can, go any further forward is by those putting their hands up, and saying YES to monthly contributions (subject to already mentioned conditions). The figure of £20 a month has been mentioned.

And although this may not appear a vast sum, I can understand for many, it would be (including myself) quite a lot of money.

Even it was affordable to many fans and supporters, they may feel it is not the best way to spend their money.

So, although I am not trying to put anyone on the spot here, would a simple YES or NO, named response, be not the best way to see if the proposition, is at least worth considering ?

To start the ball rolling I would say YES to a £20 monthly contribution, towards building up a fund for a buy-back.

Whilst I would contribute I am not entirely convinced we would get the numbers being talked about paying £20 a month. I think it would start off well but might drop off given that you would essentially be paying £960 over a 4 year period. It is a lot of money for people to pay on top of everything else they spend on the club.

This idea might be completely unworkable and possibly wouldn't have support but what if ticket prices were increased by say £2 to £22 (definitely couldn't be any increase from Cat A games). This could be done on the agreement that say £1 is going to the Dens buy back and a £1 was going towards youth development. That way both the Board and the dens buy back would be benefiting from in it.

With Season tickets there could be a minimum increase but also give the option to make an extra donation to the the buy back scheme. Likewise with merchandise sales in the shop give people the option to make a £1 donation to the dens buy back scheme. People are more likely to chuck in the odd quid here or there. If we did all this in conjunction with the planned monthly contribution scheme it could raise the required amount.

An increase in ticket prices will be met with hostility if the extra money is just for used for the general running of the club but if it is known it is going towards a specific cause I don't think as many people would begrudge paying a little bit extra.

Obviously this would all have to be done with the consent of the Board but I don't see why they wouldn't be agreeable to it.

I really appreciate the number of honest replies (responses and suggestions) to my topic.

And although none of us are here to judge or suggest, the best way to go on this, it might be the only real way to guage, if the plan is feasible.

If the idea does not get the positive, enthusiasic response, that some might hope for, well so be it, as said, none of us are here to judge

Going back to myself, I honestly might have felt more comfortable with £10 a month, but now I have committed myself to £20, I will stay by the first figure.

Would it however, be more feasible for some if the figure was £10, or even £5 ?

Smaller contributions with increased number of DFC fans supporting, and being part of the project, would have greater appeal to me.

For Our Club, if even the smallest contribution, by a DFC fan can increase the numbers who feel part of Dundee FC ...... that has got to be good.

Although I emphasise again, I would only agree to this, if it was ring fenced, for the named purpose only, for the benefit of DFC fans.

Apologies for again labouring this point .......

ONE fan committing to £20 a month is great, TWO fans committing themselves to £10 is better. FOUR fans a fiver each is (imo) best !!

It just sounds right......Rather than saying 2,000 DFC fans are responsible for the Buy Back of the Stadium.

Every DFC fan (8,000) got together and contributed towards buying back their Stadium.

The differential between contributions is unimportant,. IF WE ALL DID OUR BIT.

My only concern with your ideas Edin Dee, is if we do go on that road, suggested by yourself, we may lose focus.

That said, I very much like the way you are thinking, and as per my own last post above, it might not only make the idea of contributions easier, it would involve more people ......... and that part, I like very much.  Could the two not work somehow together ?

Either way ..... A good post.

Where does the money from DFCTV/Gold membership etc. go? Does that go directly to the club as another revenue stream? I don't know how much this costs to run (I know everyone who works on it are volunteers) but is there anyway this money could be used towards a stadium buy-back? I already pay my £10 per month for the package, but would be willing to pay £15 or £20 all in for the Gold Club package plus a stadium buy-back.

Not me. Throwing money we don't have at an ageing building and dwindling asset that needs work in near ever corner of ground is unnecessary.

Let consolidate in SPL for few years and keep tabs on what's important.

Having our name on a bit of paper but playing Cowdenbeath and co in front of 3500 would be of no comfort to me whatsoever
