Think this is a bit of a myth tbh. Old Firm are miles ahead of the rest in terms of players being at a superior fitness level and training week in week out at a high level.

I really don't know what the problem is. GMS is up against Snodgrass, Forrest (both dropped from last squad), Anya and Burke. At the time of the last competitive games, GMS would be overlooked due to playing at an inferior level to the others and being a bit younger so not totally ready yet. You wouldn't want to play him against Ireland when he's struggling for fitness at club level and would rather want to take players who know that level and can actually contribute something to get you through a very difficult tie.

Armstrong was still playing for the under 21s but is up against Bannan, Maloney, Morrison, Naismith etc who can all play that sort of role. Again, players are playing at better sides than United and had experience in bigger games.

Both players were always going to have some sort of involvement in the future Scotland set-up and move on to a bigger side and now that they have, they are being drafted in gradually to take part in smaller games and work with the staff.

International football runs over campaigns so it's only natural that when a young player gets a big move, they will be deemed more compatible with that sort of level as their progression should in theory accelerate. I don't see how anyone could really disagree with that.

It's not like there aren't call ups from other teams either. Reynolds, Pawlett, Paterson, MacLeod, Gauld have been called up in recent times.

GMS was pish for united except against us. 

At celtic he is playing great by the looks of it. He is a core part of their team already
