Hearts and Hibs

Levein sacked today after defeat to bottom of the league St Johnstone.

Hibs have 1 win in 10 (and that was because of a shoot-out) so you wonder if Heckingbottom will be away if Celtic win heavily on Saturday in the semi.

Have to say I'm not thrilled at the thought of Hearts or Hibs getting relegated (if we stay down).

Cobra, if that is the case,  they will have a  clear out that is probable bigger then most and what is left may not be as much of a challenge as you think. With the quality we have at present in comparison to last year I think we would hold our own even now.

I think they'll both recruit new managers very soon, and will finish well clear of the relegation/playoff places.

Levein isn't a surprise, given their collapse after a great start last season (is Naismith so crucial to his 'system?), but I am surprised by Heckinbottom's poor start....and even more surprised he's openly slaughtering the players. However, Lennon also did this, maybe they are the problem?

Pressley for Tynecastle is an interesting 'rumour', though I'd think Jack Ross will top the bookies lists. Don't think McPake will be on Hibs list, far too early.

It happened! Must be the first time Hearts and Hibs have sacked managers within days of each other.

Hearts losing again. If Celtic score again the Jambos will go bottom of the league.

They've got two league wins so far (the same as us this time last year). Pretty shocking given the resources they have.

I hope they pick up - I don't fancy them down with us next season

Nearly right, should be, I hope they don't pick up as we pass them on our way to the SPFL.

Former Dee Martin Boyle is the two-goal hero in today's derby as Hearts see their miserable season get even worse with a home defeat to the Hibees.

Was watching it and it did make me wonder "what if....." if we'd kept him. He's been pretty good for Hibs when I've seen them, even at the time I thought it was a bizarre move but we don't know all the facts, he was maybe desperate to go, dunno. "What if" though eh ?

From what I remember he wasn't good enough at the time for our starting XI and his contract was running out so there wasn't much we could do.

He was your typical young winger I thought, brilliant one game (one game against Hamilton in particular) then frustrating for the next 10. His pace was great and for a while he was a great outlet for the goalie to take pressure off us. He was nowhere near the finished article with us but he was still young.

He seemed to flourish in a strong Hibs side against weak opposition in the Championship. I'm not sure he'd be at the same level now if he stayed at Dens.

Hearts have only beaten top flight opposition three times since September. Once against St Mirren and twice against Rangers.

Pretty shocking that they only seem to be able to get themselves fired up when Rangers come to town.

Apparently Gerrard is considering his position.

I personally think Gerrad should stay at Rangers, he has only been in the job for a couple of years and is getting them in the right direction. Next season he will probably be better suited to challenge Celtic.

Does that mean he has had an interesting offer from South of the Border.
