Top Gear And Jeremy Clarkson.....opinions ?

As a driver of 50 years, it would be expected that sometime in my life I would have some interest in cars ...... WRANG !!

Never could get interested in cars, car racing, tv programmes aboot cars ....eh wis jist chuffed if meh car took me back and forrit tae wharever eh wis goin' :)

So eh'm no quite sure whit as this nonsense above is awe aboot, but it daes seem to be causing quite a stir wi awe his fans ...... and it seems the Show and Clarkson has a mighty big following.

Personally, when I have heard him speak, fleetingly on the Show above, and as a guest on other BBC programmes, I find him not only unfunny, but far too arrogant (and even sexist) for my taste.

It now seems, this BBC (clarkson) suspension is going to cost BBC (us) "multi-millions" in lost fees to other countries.

Anyway, who  Loves/Hates Clarkson or/and Top Gear .....neither is for me ?

I love cars, love Top Gear but can’t abide Clarkson.

Eh'm no really in a position tae pass judgement, for the reasons given in meh opening post So eh could be totally wrang here.

Certainly seems some really love him and rave on aboot the programme. Do you learn anything at awe aboot cars ?

Or is it more generally, a bit o' fun and entertainment ..... wi a lot o' ......  "look at me, eh'm a big tv star " :)

The man's an ar**, I know his 'persona' is probably an exaggeration but from the glimpses we see of him I don't think its much of an exaggeration. For me its tragic how many people buy into his "I say what we're all thinking" middle England crap, there's no doubting his popularity, the amount that have signed this daft petition shows that but I can't see the attraction myself and I'll not be sorry to see him get his jotters, he's made a fortune out of being patronising, obnoxious and xenophobic and I don't see any of these traits as attractive.

The last three posts (four if you include mine) the opinion does seem to be "the man is a dick"

Is it maybe an middle age thing ? And if he appeals to a much younger generation......WHY ?     (when he is no exactly a kid himself)

Ooft Lads. Bit harsh . :lol2:

I wouldn't exactly call myself 'the younger generation' but at 26, I have grown up watching Top Gear and would be extremely sad to see it go.

As for Clarkson, I actually quite like him. He is like a male Katie Hopkins. He is an essential cog in what is one of the biggest shows on the BBC and I fear that without him, Top Gear will sink faster than the Titanic

I could walk by her in the street and not know who she is but I know she's another gobshite, it's all very well being 'opinionated' but I have to say, for me, as an ex-opinionated fecker, it's a sign of insecurity having to foist your views on others. Opinions really are like a***hole's, we've all got them. Its one thing to feel strongly about a particular subject but when you have strong view on EVERY subject especially contentious ones, then it pretty much does make you a contentious pr**k who's trying too hard. All in my humble opinion of course.
