Scott Brown

I know the dabs haven't won in Glasgow in 47 attempts but you'd think Celtic players might want to be tip-top to make sure they win the cup.

It's little wonder Scottish football is in the state it is when our top players are getting smashed just before a big game. I can't imagine Ronaldo or Messi doing this.

Just before? He has 4 days recuperation. There is far too much being made of it.

ETA : you probably wouldn't see Messi or Ronaldo doing it as they were brought up in an entirely different culture. It wasn't too long ago that Brown's antics were a weekly occurrence in top flight football.

I know the Sun are making the most of it to sell papers but if a Dundee player was getting blind drunk in the midweek before a cup final I'd be wondering if he's going to take full part of training before the weekend. It takes your body a good few days to fully recover from a bender.

There are many reasons why we don't produce world class players like we did in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Our attitude to diet and alcohol might be one of them.

Nothing wrong with Brown having a blowout but midweek before a big game isn't ideal. I can only imagine the reaction to Harkins being pictured legless days before a cup final v the dabs.

You're absolutely right abour our diet and lifestyle, but I'm certain that is something changing masively.

You only have to look at all the health food stores turning up and general attitude to eating clean and exercise.

We are making huge steps, but we are about 15 years behind the Spanish, Italians, Dutch etc
