He was dropped so didn't take part in the horror show at Dens v Partick, then played well enough in 3 wins against Ayr, Alloa and Morton and one of only a couple of decent showings in the Derby, only to be dropped in the shakeup to bring in Meekings. While we had all the sideways passing, he came on after 70 minutes and made some strong runs down the wing. So much so that 3 ict players were booked in 15 minutes trying to stop him. Of course he has his faults but I don't think we can do without his energy. In fact I wonder if any of our "coaches" have thought about utilising it better. McPake values McGhee over Kerr, simple as that I think. If McGhee can't play the CB role, he'd rather him in at RB than Cammy. I believe Cammy's the better RB, so it bothers me quite a bit, but it is what it is.

It doesn't help when you have 2 centre halfs who aren't confident passers (Forster and Meekings) and would rather pass the buck. Ness and Byrne don't really make incisive passes either, preferring to play the safe ball. Byrne in particular slows play down with backwards passes when he should be turning towards the oppo goal. Hopefully McGhee and Marshall are fit to play and I'd start Cammy too. I'd go: Hazard (although I have doubts about him) Kerr Forster McGhee marshall Todd dorrans McGowan Mcdaid Hemmings Johnson There's an argument to say this team lacks a midfield ball winner but Ness looks completely unfit to me and Byrne has been poor lately. Get the ball forward quickly and work higher up the pitch. Wattie, I would give you the job of manager- let us hope that your suggested team members are all fit. We cannot do a slow build up until such times as ther ball is set at a striker's feet and the perfect scoring opportunity is there. Every time we faff about in a slow build up we give the opposition midfield and defence time to get back and get organised . Even the Dabs go for quick burst up the field and cause problems. Blue, if half the team had half the heart of Cammy we would have been a solid 2nd position in this league, this ongoing delusion with Meekings & Mackie is costing us.

Had a look at some stats. 7 players have been booked in the league this season for fouling him when he makes runs at the opposition. Maybe some of the sideways passers should take note.
Iain T Campbell Posted 26 November 2019 Report Share Posted 26 November 2019 We always seem to have trouble against Queens at home and especially away. I think we might win this one. I would not want to see us play 2 up front because it has been exactly profitable for us this season. We have to get the ball forward quicker because Hemmings has not been getting much service in last 2 games. I think Cammy has to play whether it is Meekings or Forster who drops out it does not matter. I would go back to Byrne and Dorrans as deep lying midfielders. I don't think Ness made much of an impression. I would go with Todd and MacDaid on the flanks with Gowser behind Hemmings. Why Todd has been ignored recently I don't know for he is a decent player. I have nothing against playing two up front and if MacPake does it I hope it works for him because we need to become more attack minded. We seem to be too concerned to avoid mistakes and hope the opposition make them, there seems to be very little positivity.
Budgem Posted 27 November 2019 Report Share Posted 27 November 2019 "Why Todd has been ignored recently I don't know for he is a decent player." Not signed by JMc, therefore not rated would be my guess. FWIW, I think Todd is an excellent footballer and should be given an extended run. Sebastiano Nela Posted 27 November 2019 Report Share Posted 27 November 2019 Todd did alright when he came on at ICT. Both him and Cammy injected some pace and directness. He offers a balance to the left side of midfield. Midfield 4 of McDaid, Gowser, Dorrans, Todd for me. Ness isnt fit and Byrne is slower than me

They've already shown that it takes something like a club record run of defeats before they dispense of managers. I doubt they've got the appetite, or deep enough dark blue lined pockets, to entertain another manager and his Championship winning masterplan. BCram Posted 27 November 2019 Report Share Posted 27 November 2019 During 2017-18 season the team were creating many goal scoring opportunities but the forwards could not score goals. Two seasons later we are now creating few goal scoring chances and are still not able to convert them. What is the solution? IMO, JMcP is going to have to change to the style of football and continually press the opposition with the ball passed quickly towards the opposition penalty box. Bring in some of the young players into the first team. As I understand things, the style of play is not a simple case of JMcP laying out the strategy. Both he and Jimmy Nicholl speak to the players. I am hoping that there is a change and that we will give QoS a battering.
