Terrible footballer. Can tackle though.

Very, very 'meh' if this happens.

To be fair mate Utd have built up a commanding lead at the top of the table with a team littered with terrible football players. Butcher in the middle of the park is there as a destructive influence but is probably more important to them than the much hyped Shankland.

The season has been spent trying to force central midfielders onto the park and create an asymmetrical system of some sort that works. Not really sure how this addition really helps us in that aim much, we've only got McDaid as a flair type player with some speed in midfield who the manager trusts right now.

In theory it should work. Tell him to sit and destroy anything that counters on us. Only problem is he's a headless chicken and our unbalanced options in midfield just becomes the same - but with an added option. We'd probably end up with maestro Dorrans sitting and uggit Callachan trying to split the defence with passes overhit 3x.

Its more a 'no' than a 'yes' for me, personally.

Posted a reply but it seems to have disappeared. I think maybe we'll let players leave in attempt at bringing more balance to the midfield. McPake, Moore, Mackie and Todd are players I could see moving out, permanently or on loan and maybe even Byrne and Nelson too if better options become available. An aggressive central midfielder, a wide player and a centre back would be my preferred incomers. Someone like Forrest at Ayr, who can play wide or central would be a good option.

Just to add to the above, Forrest, McDaid & Shankland scored around 100 goals for Ayr Utd as a front 3, I'm wondering whether Forrest, McDaid and Hemmings/Johnson would give us a similar return?. Robertson sitting, Callachan destroying and Dorrans creating in behind would give us a pretty well balanced middle to front.

Cant see ayr letting him go to one of their rivals half way thru the season tbh

Same here Beto, I'm guessing that mark Kerr's hands might be tied in terms of changes he might want to make though so he might need to sacrifice someone to be able to make those changes. We could maybe offer players plus a nominal sum of cash.

Who was the last loan player to come to Dens and be classed as a success?

I would rather see us continue to develop Fin Robertson in central midifeld rather than drop him so Ross Callachan can come in and play a dozen or so games for us.

Just like many before him, this would be a signing for the sake of signing somebody, Nelms should keep his cash in his pocket until we have a clearer idea of what's happening in the transfer window, there will be many players available on short term deals over the next few weeks.
