Fucking disgusting comments in the video. Just to point out that the comments are not from the person taking the video, but from someone behind him (So don't shoot the Arab taking the video as he has already condemned the guys shouting it).

I hope whoever shouted this is found and banned, same as the Dundee fans throwing coins at the game.

Gonna go out on a limb here.

The problem with this and about 90% of racist comments at football we hear about (mainly down south) arent actually a racism problem. The lads who shout stuff like that or the Man City fan who did the monkey gesture to the Man Utd player the other week probably arent racists. Racism isnt the root of the problem so bans or education programmes wont change anything.  The  real problem is there is still a culture that exists in football where lads think its ok to walk into a stadium with a swagger and act like a knobhead for 90 mins. They wouldnt do this anywhere else in society but we permit it in football - particularly big games like derbies. You can still shout abuse at folk for 90 mins at a match and itd be seen as socially acceptable. When that culture exists and folk are pumped up and feel free and easy to not have to act like a responsible adult, then every now and then you'll get a lad who probably isn't the brightest who shouts something stupid like the boy in the shed or gets handsy with players like the lad in the fair play. Exact same problem with both.

I know we're all supposed to act outraged at stuff like this and its obviously stupid but i dont see it as a million miles worse than a lot of stuff said at these games that we pass off as good banter. And therein lies the problem.

A very well articulated piece @Frank Grimes will be interesting to see what others make of the sensible reasoning behind it.

Me personally I wouldn’t make racist comments but I happily fling about terms like ‘Fruits’ and my new favourite ‘Things’ at the U Know Who’s.

If somebody called me a Big Speccy Prick I think I’m old enough now to laugh it off ... coz I can easily think of myself as that !

If somebody called me a Big White Speccy Prick again I wouldn’t be bothered ... coz again I can easily think of myself as that !!

If I feel it was said in a truly nasty, bitter and twisted ‘let’s get the BSP agitated’ way I’d hope I would let it go - really depends on what our individual opinions are and how much we control ourselves in the moment.

Whether we're offended or not, the courts consider it a pretty serious crime.

I think racism is deemed totally unacceptable because of the history of slavery and apartheid and prejudice in general.

Folk don't get a free pass to call a player "a black b*****d" because they got caught up in the emotion of a football match. It's no different to doing it in the street as far as I'm concerned.

Look at the distress on the face Shakhtar's Taison after he was racially abused by opposition fans. It might be "banter" to you but it's not to footballers on the receiving end of it.

Again @Cobra a very well worded response and Taison is obviously distressed by the abuse he has received.

Taison himself will need to deal with that abuse though because the Haters / Advantage Seekers will abuse him,  he deserves as much Support in this as can be afforded, and as quickly as possible.

In todays modern grounds where technology can show the offenders very quickly there is surely nothing to prevent a rapid response ‘White’ noise vehicle blasting back and drowning out the Haters / Advantage Seekers.

I would hope that Highly Visual and Highly Noisy clear show of Support would put a wry Smile on Taison’s face and keep him doing the job he Loves.

Got to disagree although I get where you are coming from.

The guy could have said anything but chose to be racist. Especially this season  where racism is noticeably on the rise in football and wider society the guy has got to know you can’t be shouting that.

Agree with that bulk of that. For the record, my point wasnt 'racism should be passed of as banter'. Im more saying the way we tolerate (and even celebrate) abuse in general at football makes racist comments at matches more likely. I find a lot of abuse at matches disgusting and im sure a lot of folk would tell me to get a grip.

Id also say there is a difference between premediated, repeated mob racism like in Ukraine and Bulgaria and a lot of what we see in the UK. Hence why i said 90% in my OP.

I just find the whole discussion on the subject irritating. You see it on match of the day and the like all the time. Pundits are too scared to actually apply nuance to the conversation in case they say something wrong and get in trouble. All they have to do is say how outraged they are and how theres no place for it football bla bla bla, its so boring. Nothing of any substance is ever said in these discussions.

I hear you bud. But there's always gonna be one who's that little bit thicker and crosses the line. Chances are we'll never find who that lad was so he probably got away with it. Id expect United to release a statement.

Yep totally agree. For me it's a generational thing. When I was growing up in the 70's & 80's it was perfectly acceptable to use words and phrases that are now, rightly, seen as racist slurs. Parents passed them down to my generation and I've no doubt that my generation will pass them down again. Education is the answer imo and this theory has been backed up many times by my young daughter. She's not the most outgoing but I've heard her pick up on things, and pull up things, that can be construed as being even mildly racist and highlight why they are wrong. That is something her generation has been taught at school.

Agree @Reverend Lovejoy Education is indeed working really hard to stop the youth unintentionally getting on the R paths.

My own Young Uns / adults are really switched on to it and get pretty het up about the nasty stuff that goes on.

Needless to say Daaaaaaad YOU can’t Say that gets said to me from time to time !

Not in a you R. B’d way but a lot in the P.C. / the Modern way is ——— way.

I had a very Interesting ‘debate’ recently with my middle one ( who really argues / debates well ) about how I *should have asked her to get up and walk the dog !

I was running late for work after trying to organise a Xmas present ( for her and siblings 😎 ) and was really prickly about her and sis still being in bed at 10 ( teenagers ... and just finished exams 😂 )

Needless to say DEEvorce was eventually Avoided - but we will stand our personal grounds for as long as we live 😍

Again Respect to @Frank Grimes for being STRONG enough to raise a Very Difficult Topic in a Very Sensible way to Encourage Debate Thinking and Talking that must surely be the way forward in Life.

Best you can expect from that disgusting club will be a statement of denial.

Never happened because they don't want it to have happened.
