Just now, chomp my root said:

Think the paper is being mischievous and trying to drum up comment. Fair play to our neeburs for raising the cash to build a statue to the guy, can't see it being in the city centre though.

It will be painted dark blue two days after it goes up.... 🤣

No problem if "They" want to do a statue for their greatest manager and put it in Tannadice but for sanity's sake and fairness   do not put it in a public place....However Knowing the "Arab Biased" DCC they might consent to this !!

Remember they allowed that brass plaque to be fitted beside the front door of the now former main Council Housing Office in Shore Terrace(Now the St Andrews pub etc) to celebrate their Dundee Hibs past.

and of course DCC's Obsession with The Derry after the 3-1 victory and the crowd surges.

He really did the city proud when he ended his career being charged with assault. Yes please keep that the f**k away from the city centre.

How can someone who never hid his contempt for one half of the city's teams, and by inference the fans and people of the city, be located in the centre if the city he had such contempt for so much of the population of?  Fair play to UTD fans for raising the money but the statue can only be located at Tannadice - anything else would be akin to giving the Dees the middle finger.

He was a great coach but a divisive figure who hated DFC and was certainly not loved by the players who were forced to sign 10 year contracts.

United can celebrate his achievements but it would unacceptable for the city to stick him in the centre, unless they want a Shankly statue there as well.
