Fitness Test

What on earth are the fitness test DFC give prior to signing a player. Seems to be something wrong due to the number of absolute crocks we have signed in recent times.

'oh, you can get in and out your car, sign here. Here's a two year deal'.

Also our actual fitness levels could be questioned too. We don't seem any fitter than part time bin men either.

Rant over.

Agree with your concern. Think the perception is that it is safer for a manager if he signs an experienced player who is coming back to fitness rather than a young fit player who is much more of an unknown quantity. Experienced player fails to make the grade because he can't recapture his pre injury form is easier to forgive than spending money on a player who has never shown any ability to perform at the level that we need IMO .

McIntyre was a classic example of the first type of manager and McCann was an example of the second. Davies really torpedoed any hope that McIntyre was going to get us out of the hole we were in. McCann had too many projects that never really delivered.

To be honest I'd rather have fit players with potential than unfit experienced pros who might never recapture their pre injury form.

By 'fitness test' I assume you mean Medical, the medical department at any club nowadays is vitally important and the tests they carry out on new recruits could cost a club millions if they get it wrong.

The lad Turnbull at Motherwell is a prime example of a club (Celtic) having the correct people and procedures in place to spot not only current problems but future ones as well.

Maybe it's part of the club that requires a shake up.

These are professional football players. In any other job or profession,  you'd be sacked or demoted for being unable to perform to the level you were hired for.

Too many wage stealers, journeymen or lazy gits with no loyalty in the game these days. They move from club to club until they are found out.

The nearest relation to the Lazy Git is the Switched Off Cos I Got A Better Offer in the Pipeline.

Same colour, two legs on both species. The latter gets better once he finds a new mug, sorry, club.😁
