Dundee's Record Appearances

Hi guys,

Trying to do a bit of research on our definitive top 10 appearance holders. The likes of Football Manager list Barry Smith as our record appearance holder with 400 appearances but this is not the case as many of you know, it's Doug Cowie with 446. Using Crystal Palace as an example, they have a wee fan website that accurately updated this on a game by game basis as Speroni was climbing the ranks (Link here: https://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=315)

Now, this is something Kenny (Who I think used to post on here?) will know quite easily but as far as I can see there's never been a definitive list published. The most accurate list I can put together is from snippets taken from the Dundee website during Hall of Fame write-ups. Here's where I've got so far, any blanks being filled would be appreciated!

1.Doug Cowie - 446

2nd (Or 3rd): Barry Smith - 433

4. Bill Marsh - 417

Marsh was listed as 4th in his write-up. Here's some other extremely high appearance holders whom I'd reckon will be in the top 10:

Bobby Wilson & Ally Donaldson - 411

Bobby Glennie - 388

David Thomson - 385

And Alan Cousin was also included as being in the top 10 with 384.

Not only this, but I'd like to know where Rab Douglas & Gavin Rae lists on our all time list with both having 303 appearances. Currently Paul McGowan is working his way up the list as well as he's currently on 203 appearances with the opportunity for many more.

Thanks for reading!

Check out “ They Wore the Dark Blue” by Norrie Price? It has appearances up to a certain year.
