According to today's papers the SPFL are looking at a Doomsday Scenario where SPFL Chiefs "will decide winners and losers" if the virus scuppers the season. That would cause it's own chaos with conspiracy theories abounding especially down Glasgow way! They are saying that firstly there are no immediate plans to change anything but the first step would possibly be to play games behind closed doors (something that would not do out finances any good) if crowds are banned by government or if they see fit themselves. It things deteriorate greatly in general or if teams getting the bug cause a situation where the season cannot be completed and only as a last resort the SPFL could decide on the title, promotion and relegation etc themselves. That could hand the titles to Celtic/United etc as the top team at the time and relegation similarly decided. With no games being played under those circumstances then it would be a cert that play offs would not happen and therefore 2nd/3rd/4th place would be forgotten. If the bottom two in the Premier were on the same points and only separated by a goal or two cue court cases etc. It would be ironic if we were unable to take advantage of the play off system for the first time due to these circumstances. Most DABs conveniently forget the advantage they have had (one that they duly flopped) over they past 3 seasons getting a second chance through a play off system that was never available to us in all the years we were down.

As the SPFL state themselves this would only be a last resort but would lead to 'interesting times' and disappointments for many. Most realists would hardly be able to justify not giving the titles to Celtic and United if they are still as far ahead. It would p1ss us off but as far as Rangers are concerned they are hardly realists and mayhem would be the outcome. The relegation issue could be the most troublesome. Hopefully it won't happen but if...........................................................................?

That would make their lives a lot easier by just making the top teams win!

What they should do is just play the games behind close doors and continue the league, as the solution they are talking about in unfair on the other teams in the league.

I sometimes wonder where they get these people from who make all these decisions.

Kind reminds me of this guy:

Actually, he would probably make better decisions for the rest of the Scottish league!

how would they decide between 2nd bottom in the SPFL and 2nd top in the Championship. Number of points scored, goal difference, number of goals scored are the usual options but that seems unlikely. Spin a coin seems most likely. current team involved would be ICT and Hamilton with Hearts relegated.

I think they would just ignore the play offs meaning 2nd bottom in the Premier would be safe.  Don't think spin of the coin would be a starter. Would they coin toss 3rd/4th game then the next play off as well before the 2nd bottom/2nd top game? As far as playing games behind closed doors this would be the best solution until players start going down with the bug. Then what?

I don't see why they cannot play all games behind closed doors - if a club was hit by the virus they would forfeit the points for games they couldn't complete.  I think this is already in place for some scenarios.  It's not fair but fairer than simply giving titles and relegation to teams - and removing opportunity for promotion to other teams (like us).

Playing behind closed doors and forfeiting points are well-established in football so why wouldn't we used them?

They could just stop pandering and get some balls and carry on regardless.

Stopping folk shaking hands but they're allowed to shout in one another's face and grapple for headers.

It's f**cking embarrassing.

I agree. Look at the rugby. The're now not supposed to shake hands but can get all close and 'personal' in scrums. Daft or what?

Wouldn't they just be able to play the games behind closed doors if the worst comes to the worst? Broadcast the games live on DeeTV for the remainder of the season, hopefully get back to attending games come the play-offs. Worst case scenario, but still doable.

Personally I think they should just douse us in disinfectant before we go through the turnstiles and make sure every keeps their hands in their pockets and only to the elbowshake rather than a handshake!.

No sure about dousing us with disinfectant but reckon it would be OK to douse the DAB support at the last derby. Nothing to do with coronavirus just a good idea with those manky gits!
