Following a weekend of discussion and contemplation, we would like to issue the following statement.

As we made clear in our statement on Friday afternoon, it is a time for integrity and impartiality within Scottish football. Our view on that has not changed.

Over the past few days, we have entered into various positive discussions with reconstruction at the forefront of these.

Given our discussions and considering all aspects, we don’t feel we are in a position to comment further on the resolution that was put forward.

We understand that this may bring more questions than answers and we will look to give a much more substantial account of the past few days at the conclusion of this process.

Our supporters should know that we are, as always, looking out for the best interests of both Dundee Football Club and Scottish football as a whole.

Exactly the statement I was expecting.

The froth on Facebook has already started 😂

Im pretty comfortable with the situation and amazingly I trust Nelms to see us through this.

Never ever thought I’d type/say that.

John Nelms has shown he has the strength not to buckle and give the SPFL and Celtic the Yes they were wanting today. I applaud him for that.

He mentions "integrity" in the statement and relegating Partick and Hearts is the antithesis of integrity. Dees simply don't want Dundee being part of that and us being the deciding vote means a U-turn is totally unacceptable. It's critical we don't get this wrong. Dees have suffered greatly this century so far and as a result of the most recent turmoil a demand for fairness is something that's taken on great importance. It's part of our identity. That needs to be respected by the people running the club.

Maybe this has been covered....

Is it possible Nelms put out a leak to record/press to gauge the reaction of the dee fans....

Bit like the Dodds saga, when by all accounts he was shocked by the reaction.

Maybe buying himself some time?

EXACTLY!

Folk will say Dees kicking off was much ado about nothing but I don't think that for a minute.

Nelms is not daft. He doesn't want to lose the fanbase and he will reassess things when Dees feel strongly about something.

Sounds like the heads are staying level and no panic moves are being made.

Wish we could say the same about this place

I’m not on Facebook, but seemingly been a pretty horrendous backlash....

Mr Nelms vote NO....

We are in a strong position with the insurance policy.

Let some other club take the heat.

The only palatable benefit to us voting yes will be a 16 team league (which I can’t see happening)

I was doubtful when he appointed McIntyre tbf😂

This may sound naive but I genuinely think he is trying to do what Scottish football has been unable to to for so long and shake up the league structure and with it distribution of wealth.

I just hope (and I imagine he will be) he’s still in dialog with many other chairmen/owners to help with this negotiation, as there is a real chance here finally for all clubs to tell the spfl what they really want for a better future. Might be fantasising but it all points to this imo
