The whole album is amazing, think it was the last thing I played on vinyl about 10 years ago when the missus made a point of stashing our (2, his and hers before we got together) stack systems when I was away.

Vinyl, now there's a thing.  I can't remember the last time I played any vinyl but it must be 10-15 years ago like yourself,  The vinyl belonging to myself and the wife has been stored for years in plastic boxes in our garage - same for the turntable and substantial CD collection.  Can't bring ourselves to part with any of that stuff.

Youngsters though, have a different perspective on things and it never fails to amaze me how these things move on.  My two lads, 18 and 16 , listen to music all the time but they don't possess any vinyl or CDs between them.  They have never listened to the radio either.  All the music they listen to they get from YouTube, Spotify or some other platform I've never heard of.  I really don't see much long term future for vinyl or CDs except maybe as a specialist hobby.

I've still got mine up in the loft, sometime along the way I seem to have picked up some of my brothers and his ex missus's too, there's bloody Barbara Dixon amongst the Motorhead and Neds Atomic Dustbin. Galloons of CD's too which I still buy sometimes, the most recent being a Credence Clearwater Revival 'Best of'. I rip them though so they can go on phones/mp3 players. I have bought the occasional track from Amazon but if you buy the CD you get the download anyway.

Cannot be doing with all this downloading lark. Love to get my hands on the Vinyl or LP as I know it or the CD nowadays to read the back or booklet with it. I still play a lot of my old records, Free, Deep Purple, Led Zep etc. a lot but my god the price of Vinyl now means I settle for the CD. Right into Joe Bonamassa these days and every CD has with it an insert with the info of a small magazine. Great stuff. I put stuff on my mp3 player for out walking or in the car but give me something I can hold or touch any time compared to the i tunes stuff!

It must be the case that 90% of folk of our generation go through this.  A year or so back we were clearing the garage of junk (Steptoes Yard) and opened up the boxes to check on the condition of the vinyl.  Came across an early Stones album, 3 Barclay James Harvest albums and a Jackson Browne album.  Not mine and the wife claimed they weren't hers either.  Not a scooby where they came from.

When lockdown started in March, I invested in Spotify Premium family version. Working from home everyday, I think it has helped me no end in staying sane.  Open up the app on my phone, select the music you want and plug the phone into stereo speakers on the desk.  I've heard so much stuff I would never have heard before its unreal.  The lads use it all the time on their headphones or Bluetooth speakers from dawn to dusk.  You never 'own' the music but after thinking about it, who cares.

I still like to be able to take an MP3 player away with me when I'm out and about, even if its just my phone (usually have headphones and a few other bits and bobs in a wee pouch). I'm off for a wee camp in the woods tonight so spotify etc is no use, I've got the Amazon equivalent which I rarely use, no good reason to be honest, just habit. I don't tend to listen to much 'new' (at least to me) music now, I seem to listen to stuff I know, not sure if that's a good or bad thing really. 🤔 I don't listen to as much as I did when I was younger either, if I'm in the house I'm usually seduced by a screen.

That's the first time I've seen the video to that, cheers, can't believe they got Eric Roberts (I think) to be in it. Great video. I'll go with the high production values and toss this one in.

Bringing back some good and bad memories there Chomps!

I still have all my vinyl (300-400) and still play it often. On top of that about 600 cds which are played every day. I have about 100 of the cds on an mp3 player for in the car (cant stand listening to djs or much of today's music that gets played - plenty of good stuff being recorded but doesnt hit the airwaves of mediocrity) or on holiday. Nothing beats vinyl for listening to the blues.

I store all my CDs in mp3 form on a couple of external drives. I have burned over 60 CDs each holding between 10 & 12 albums in mp3 form for playing in the car (held in one storage pouch c. 700 albums) and I regularly change the music on my mp3 player for when out walking. Like you I cant take to today's music and DJs drive me nuts so I only listen to the fitba on the radio. 100% agree with your last sentence that I've highlighted.
