What That Result Means

What a great display from Dundee tonight, outclassed united man for man right across the pitch, but for me tonight's result was more than just three points and a derby win. Getting the monkey off our backs and finally beating them represents recovery at long last. It showed we're finally back from the fiasco that followed admin 1 and relegation in 2005, and after years of floundering we're ready to retake our rightful place as the city's top team. It was a fantastic result and hopefully in years to come we will look back at tonight as a pivotal moment in our club's history.

Deerhound, you beat me to it there. I was going to start a new topic in the same vein (So at least twa o' us are thinking along the same lines)

However, I am sure there are another few thousand long term regular DFC fans and supporters, just as many newer ones, and potentially thousands more, who realise that the now focused, ambitious, Dundee FC are not only the team worth following/supporting, we now have the potential to be even greater

DFC has the History andTradition. AND THE BEST, LOYAL, SUPPORTERS THAT ANY CLUB COULD HOPE FOR (even through the worst of times)

I agree with you wholeheartedly. The time for our Club to think seriously about being the leading, premier club in the City, is drawing nearer ...... in fact it has probably now arrived.

While we are showing intent and professional ambition, it appears that our neighbours (I am trying to be polite here) are basically falling apart at the seams

From the chairman, whose mind is now on the gentler life, in a warm, sunnier, climate, to the manager, who must now be wondering where to invest all his transfer bonuses. And now (tonight especially) to their suffering supporters, who are ........"well, suffering supporters"

We still have a bit of the season to go, but however it finishes for DFC, we can all say, "well done"

Tonight of course was something special. But the future for DFC looks bright ...... very bright :)

I must admit Gedee, I'm a wee bit worried that I'm suffering from the same affliction, at least my sides have been hurting since about 8 o'clock last night when the ball went through the dab's legs.

Seriously though, if we can win in Perth and make top six I really think we'll finish above them and can finish 4th, which as has been mentioned on another thread would be an amazing achievement.

I might be getting carried away here, but with a decent wee bit of recruitment in the summer and some luck we could be a serious force for winning trophy next year. Very exciting times.

Will be very interesting to see what the season ticket and pricing packages will be for next season. I would expect the sums have been done already dependent on where we finish.

After last seasons spoofer debacle on the sponsorship and strips, I am expecting something completely more professional and timely at the end of this season.

Just on the last bit o' yir post ...... I dinnae think you are getting carried away at all.

Just reading the forum over the past few weeks,I think probably all of us are starting to feel the positivity about the future of DFC.

OK the result last night, and the good season we are having in the Premiership, did a lot more to convince many, things are really changing for the better for Our Club ...... ( Similiarly for the "ither lot" but in a different direction )

It's maybe not all going to happen overnight for DFC ...BUT IT WILL HAPPEN...Slow and steady, will do, but it will happen, definitely :) :)

Meanwhile we can watch oor tormented neighbours and their "loyal, world famous club and support" continue to disintegrate into oblivion.

Look efter yirsel (and that side o' yours) keep watching the replays again and again. But fir health sake, gie yirsel a wee break in between.

Anyone who has a kid of say 15 or less, that goes with them regularly to watch Dundee will know exactly what this means to the younger Dundee support.

My young lad is 10 years old and is in his sixth season of watching the Dee. He has been indoctrinated into Dundee FC by me and he will be a Dee for life whatever happens. I have told earlier tales on Mad and here of him regularly stopping for a pee when he was 6 or 7 against the Tannadump walls.

He has watched some amount of shyte football at Dens in his 6 seasons - 6 seasons where Utd have been lording it in the top half of the Premier League. During that time he must have taken some ribbing from wee arabs - Cup Finals, Europe etc. He has stuck with it though.

I loved Wednesday night. I nearly started singing at one point! I was more chuffed for him though because he was like a minature version of me. He was nervous, biting his nails and he went mental when we scored and when the final whistle went.

And if anyone could ever doubt his credentials for being a Dee, he screamed 'Judas' at Dixon at the top of voice when Dixon was right in front of us in the 2nd half and he gave the finger to the Shankly end on numerous occasions.

While us old ones enjoyed this game and result, I feel more chuffed for the youngsters. Our tales of Dundee being a better team than the dabs weren't all just made up after all.
