Strongest 11

Hey everyone, first time poster, joined after last night to put a few questions of my own to bed using everyone's opinions.

After a remarkable team display last night, particularly McPake, Thommo, McGowan, Stewart, Bain and for me Konrad who took his knocks like an absolute champion (couple of mistakes but nearly ruptured his spleen to rectify them). What is our strongest 11/formation without injuries and our current squad?

Is there a place for Harkins in our midfield setup?

Konrad or Godzilla to pair with Mcpake in the middle of the defence?

Tankulic? would he start ahead of clarkson or heff?

Looking forward to some opinions on this.

Welcome to the Darkblues Bomb :)

Is there a place for Harkins? Right at this moment I would have to say no, but the problem with Jeebsy is you can never count him out. He will have to fight for his place during training and when he gets his chance he will have to take it like everyone else. He will always produce a few moments of magic that are well worth the entry fee alone.

Konrad all the day. Him and McPake make a really good team in the middle of the defense and I can see that continuing next season.

While I like the Tank, I'm not sure he is our goal scoring answer up front either. I think he is more a front midfield player who would be better off playing behind the striker.

Cheers for the warm welcome TDB, hope to get some good conversation among the posters here. I agree re Harkins and Konrad, i think GGH will always be an option for going against teams willing to stand off and give him space to go at them.

Luka is a tricky one, i don't know what the up front answer is either. Stewart continues to show how devastating he can be as an attacking mid/winger. Maybe tankulic playing off wighton to do the muscle work for him while he develops...

Either way, it's going to be a fun end to the season finding out!!

"Paleface speak with forked tongue"

I often treat DD's posts as something akin to doing the cryptic crossword on the back of the courier (if it's still there)

What phone are you using anyway bud?  I'm due an upgrade soon and I want to steer clear of that one.

HTC one m8. Amazing phone. I don't use stock keyboard. I use one with emotions so that's why my auto correct plays up.

Least you guys remember my posts.

Irvine for Dyer and Harkins for S.McGinn,my strongest team.Never been able to field it this season,so far.Hopefully everyone unscathed for another go tom,we wiped the floor with them in sept up there, albeit only 1-0.

At a loss to pick our best midfield tbh. Thomson, Mcgowan, Stewart all absolute must starters, but also think Jim Mcallister, Harkins and in recent games Stephen Mcginn are really difficuilt to leave out if fit. 6 doesn't fit into 5 unfortunately.

Believe based on Wednesday's blinder of a performance, Heffernan is the best option in the number 9 role.

Correct, and I'm sure Tommy Wright will be planning for Heffernan starting. However for me his inclusion on Wednesday was right out of left field even if it was a near master stroke. Who knows what PH has on his mind for tomorrow though.

Agree with Gandosaur. I'd put McGowan, Thomson, Stewart and McGinn as starters. That leaves one place and with where the rest are, it has to be a defensively minded player. McAlister for teams who play with width, Ferry for those who don't.

Harkins is a swap about with either McGinn or Stewart. The difference in McGinn since Hartley started playing him in his actual position has been a plus.
