D.F.C. - Are We Another Step Towards Being The Leading Club In The City ?

Basically, anyone have any responses or opinions, to the question/statement above ?

However this season finishes now, I think we have done more than enough to show we are leading towards this.

Wednesday, was another step towards this (imo) .

Not just because the manner of our victory over our rivals, or even our great successful journey in the Premiership this season, or even watching the "other club" completely lose it's way, as  their Chairman and the Manager take their eye of the ball. and their focus turns towards their personal bank balance, rather than their Club ...... and it appears now allowing their club to descend further into oblivion !!

Well that's just an opinion ..... But that is how it appears to me.

But it seems, it is also reflected by their own supporters on their own forum, as questions are asked about the strength of their loyalty towards their club ....and not surprisingly (especially in the present circumstances) the answer is very little and vanishing rapidly as each new distrous day passes !!

The other point, I intended making, before that last distraction was ..... while they start their process of selling the Clubs best assetts, with little care for their fans (it seems) we are definitely going in an obvious better, more positive, stronger, direction.

Dundee in the past few months (or maybe even since the arrival of the new BOD) have at last shown rel intent and ambition., which befits a Club like ours, with it's great history and tradition. I think our American Friends now realise this.

Communication has improved (still a bit to go) But the point is, it keeps us in touch of what direction we now going.

PH still remains in the fore of this, keeping our players, working hard for themselves, and each other, and well  focused.

And even just keeping our best players (now there's a novelty)

As well as constantly trying to improve our squad. Holding on to our best players, and offering decent, extended contracts to the best...... JUST THE WAY ANY GOOD MANAGER SHOULD :lol2: :lol2:

The recent news of the possibility of the BOD  buying back DENS is the latest big step towards our ambition plans.

DUNDEE FC are looking for ways to increase our support .........Great Stuff  :)  :)

The ither lot still trying to hold on to what they still can at this time. Oh Dear :) :)

Dundee FC ..... Premier Club ..... Premier History ...... Premier Supporters.   :) :)

Good post

Agree we are making massive strides in the right direction but realistically we still have a way to go. United have been performing consistently for a good few years not only in terms of the league but also getting to finals etc.

We are getting there but think it will take more than one very good season

The more time goes on, the less I am interested in battling for supremacy with United..

Fact is we are and always will be the original and best.

I believe if we focus fully on being as good as we can be and fully realise the potential of our component parts, the rest will take care of itself.

Onwards and upwards for the Dee.

Let's win the day and we've got a great chance of a brilliant league finishing position.

Thank you for your response and comment .......And I don't disagree at all with your assessment ....."think it will take more than one season"

Think the main thrust o' my post topic, is just to remind myself, and any other DFC fans, that may still need reminding, we are on the way up

Hope I am no' coming over too obsessed aboot "them" Boba ..... cause in truth I am no' at awe.

But altho' it is no normally my style, and altho' I very rarely respond to anything they say or do,  (preferring, like yourself, the focus to be on our club)  recently I have, looked back and reflected, about some o the "gloating keech", I, and other good, decent DFC fans, have had to endure from them, as we went through our pain and trouble of recent years. While they continued to live in their deluded, imaginary, world, of being "world famous" !!

I know that is the way of football, and probably no' less than would be expected of any two city clubs .....

But in probaly most of my recent posts on here, I have taken great pleasure in reminding them (gently) that the same could happen to any club.

While at the same time reminding them (and ourselves) things might be looking good for our club........looking very good, I believe.

Dundee will continue to  have two good quality teams in the City (imo)

But with the quality of our support we have, we should, rightly, set our target high......."Onwards and Upwards"

Exactly how I feel as well Boba.  On and off the park, we have come a long way in the last 14 months and the writing is on the wall for our neighbours.

Apart from looking forward to continuing to give them a regular beating in the derbies, my interest in Utd is almost zilch.

Two chants spring to mind:

We are Dundee, we are Dundee, and

Who are ya!

I agree with first sentence - -just lets try and be the best we can and that will do for me.

DABs are catch-able now we 99.9% top six, hope PH makes that the target, try and finish above them. Am from the happy with 10th or above finish camp and season will have been a good one but for me it's turning into a fantastic one.

Love that tune Bloomong.  Exactly what we should be thinking at this point.

This season has been a big leap forward, compared to what we've had to endure since that fateful relegation day at Livi.

[We must never, ever forget this, nor forget the faith shown by 6,000+ fans, that this revival would be made to happen, no matter how long it took us & how much it might cost us....in both cash & agony]

I think it's going to be a huge challenge for PH to maintain this level next season, with the return of a strong Hearts, and possibly Hibs or (I hope not :happyno: ) Rangers. However, when you see how ICT & St.J have done this with less than half the fanbase, you know it has to be achievable.

I'd expect it'll take a couple of years for the Club as a whole to find its feet again in the top league, both on & off the field, and would be happy to see the Club take small steps forward while strengthening its commercial position.

We know only too well, how devastating a prolonged spell in the lower league can be.

As for the Arabs....

Well, if we have to compare ourselves to them (& I appreciate it's more important when you live & work beside them!), take away the 3 derby results & there's little to separate the two sets of stats this season (so far). When you consider the media have constantly asked "will Dundee be good enough to stay up" & "how come a side we know are as good as United are only 6th/5th/4th, etc", I'd say (i) we can be quietly satisfied with where we are, and (ii) just how over-rated are these Arabs?
