Us and the 'Big' games....

Recommended Posts

Being a lifelong Dee, I know that we as a club don't always turn up for the 'big' games. The morning after is usually filled with 'what could have been and a hard luck story that we get to tell our kids in later years'.

However, I watched a very different Dundee over the last 2 games. Yesterday was one of those games where everything could have gone wrong. Yet, over the 90 minutes, we looked a much better team, fitness, shape and passing wise while always wanting to get the ball into that final third.

You could see that the players were not only playing for each other, but they were playing for the manager. All credit to McPake for bringing that to the team, and the fact that he never gave up even when a lot of the fans had.

James McPake has shown me one thing about him that will make him a very good manager in the long run, patience and the will to never give up. One thing is there for all to see. He is willing to admit that he gets things wrong, but instead of wallowing in self pity and letting it get him down, he seeks answers and learns from those mistakes, and then moves forward.

Most managers with a lot more experience, would have probably have given up and left the club after the first couple of months of our bad patch. I honestly believe that the injury which ended his playing career, a curse, but was also a blessing in the long run, as I believe this gave him his strong mentality and his never give up attitude. 🦾

Well done to the players, the manager, the backroom staff and board. 👏
