I really dont care how Scotland do to be honest. Dont want them to lose or anything like that but just dont have the passion for them that I have for the Dee

Just not the right shade of Darkblue for my taste. ;)

Would like to see them get past the qualifiers for a change, then maybe, just maybe I would get a bit more interested and Strachan seems to have them going in the right direction. at least it's no 4-6-0 he is playing!

I think the only way I would take an interest was if any Dees were in the squad.

Yeah, I can't remember the last Dee that played for Scotland, unless I go back a lifetime, or they move to The Rangers or Celtic.

Lee Wilkie and Gavin Rae were both still at Dundee for the Dutch play-off matches.

I enjoy Scotland games but normally just use them as an excuse to meet up with old pals in the pub. Don't feel near the same passion as I do for DFC and indeed under Burley and Levien I stopped watching them altogether.

That said its quite sad that a guy in his early to mid 30's like me hasn't seen Scotland at a major tournament finals since I was a school.

So 11 years ago.... but it would be a fair assumption that they got most of their caps while playing for other teams and being picked by Berti Vogts?

1978 World cup was my favourite Scottish moment. Watching the world cup with my auld man, and the Holland game. That Archie Gemmill goal will forever be one of the best World cup moments. Pity we couldn't have played like that in the first two matches.

When I read ........." No games next week because of International Break" ....... the dark clouds of gloom descend for a fortnight on me !!

Being of the aulder generation, the weekly games, of what at that time was the Scottish1st Division, was the bread and butter for al fitba lover. And when the Scotland vs England game came roond, that was an extra touch of luxury. We expected the cream of talent, and on many times that's exactly what we got !!

Then followed the many, many, years, in the wilderness for International Scottish Football ..... That went from hope, desperation, no interest, to jist plain seek even thinking aboot them !!

The international break got in the way of  DFCs run, and the routine of DFC fans and supporters !

But at least this time, there was a game worthy of watching ..... and under Gordon Strachan we won .... and felt again a wee bit proud to be Scottish.

It was the Vogts era that knocked all interest in the national team out of me. I still watch them sometimes but when the wife says she wants to watch Coronation Street instead I don't argue.

I watched some of the Republic match and to be fair what I saw of it didn't look any better than we're used to with Scotland, very little real class on show and some pretty ridiculous and excessive challenges by both sides - like watching a Rangers - Celtic match of old in fact. It'll take more than that to get me watching regularly again and I don't think I'd ever shell out the cash to go see the team again.

However I'd follow Dundee through good, bad and indifferent - in fact I have done. It's expected that a football fan should follow their national team and it's probably very easy to do so. It's 1000% more difficult to support a club like Dundee; that takes a real passion.

Edit - and it helps if you're just plain mental.
