What do you think the result will be and who will start against Dundee United?

Some of this please

Doesn’t matter who starts, let’s just beat the phuckers!

A decent 1st choice from Riverfishdundee imo. Not a bad idea to flood the midfield and have Anderson getting forward. McGowan must start though and although I have faith in Sweeney I reckon JMcP will bring Fontaine back in.

Neither team are particularly free scoring at the moment...draw all over it I think. Hopefully another week of training and the 90 minutes for Griffiths at the weekend giving him a bit more match sharpness might make us more of a threat.

I put it in the Livi thread, but without Adam in the midfield 3 we are a bit blunt, so I would like to see us play a sitting 2 with a 10, who can hopefully provide us with a bit more creativity. I think our best player in that role is probably Jak who looks like he has an eye for a pass in the final third. With the 2 holding midfielders not getting too far ahead of the ball it will still make us a bit more stable defensively. Don't think McPake will change the shape for such a big game though!

We started the game against Livi without our top three players for assists.  Adam, McMullan and McGowan.  We will need at least one of them to start at Tannadice.  I suspect it will be McMullan with McCowan dropping out.  If McGowan starts I think it will be Anderson who drops out for him.  Having McGhee, Byrne and Anderson in the middle together gives us a battling midfield but we lack the guile and creativity which Adam and McGowan can provide.  Having said that I wouldn't be at all surprised if McPake goes for that three again as we will need their battling qualities against United.  Hopefully McMullan will be back as we found it difficult to get in behind Livi who looked a better side than their results so far might suggest.  I think there might be more space for our forwards to exploit at Tannadice as I don't think United will sit back.  Their fans will be hoping for another six against us so will get on their case if they employ a defensive formation which I think might be their best tactic.  I think this might be yet another draw although I'm hoping for the best, a 1-0 win for Dundee with us the ones awarded a controversial penalty for a change.

Based on what I've seen of United so far this season and last, it looks like they're a team who are better off sitting deep and allowing the other team to have the ball trying to hit on the break which might not go down well in a Derby when they're at home, so we might actually get more of a chance to hit them on the break which is where we are most dangerous too, when we are quite direct with our wide players and strikers breaking quickly and carrying the ball forward.

I don't really feel we should be looking to change too much. We started well on Saturday and I'd be happy enough if it was just a case of McMullan in for Jakubiak. McCowan can be a bit hot/cold at the other end but I think he does get stuck in and will be a good presence for a game like this, you can also see a bit of good link up and understanding with the full backs and his positioning looks decent in terms of keeping the shape etc.

Anderson does usually fall out of games but I think he does actually bring a huge amount to the team already, he had a few brilliant bits of play early on last week that could have quite easily put us in front and given him a bit of attention.

Gowser is someone you want involved in the derby games but I think the last thing we want is to be putting him in a place where he's chasing young guys on the wing or getting stuck playing too deep as we try and replicate how we play for Adam. I appreciate that cutting edge maybe wasn't there at the weekend and he does bring that but with McMullan, I think Gowser is a brilliant impact sub.

Re defence, can't really say much on Sweeney V Fontaine. Feels like you want the experienced defender in but McPake made that change and if it wasn't forced through injury, you wouldn't think Sweeney would be dropped off the back of Sat.

I'd bring back Fontaine McGowan and McMullan for Sweeney mcghee and mccowan.

Hopefully the 2 united defenders who went off injured on Saturday miss out.

You'd drop McGhee for our biggest game of season so far?

You've had too much Sangria mate 😜😘

I'm almost speechless in admiration of the strategy employed by WESTENDDEE.  Start everybody and hope the ref doesn't notice.  Bravo sir.  Mind you, I think having three keepers between the sticks at the same time may just give it away. 😕
