Agreed. He always came accross as a good, decent guy and his work with scotland helped stop the rot and gave us some pride back after berti and co. Nothing but respect,RIP.

A Father figure to many in the game, there will be many folk raising a glass to him and sharing stories of their experiences of him.

One of a few people that when he spoke, the whole room listened.

Wattie scored in a 1-0 win for Utd at Dens, Sep 1973, ending our year long unbeaten home record. The clip of him lifting his leg and kissing his boot (very impressive feat) used to lead off Sportscene for long enough. 

Other thing I recall about him was that him, Jocky, Archie Knox, Jim McLean and maybe Wallace used to play fives against players half their age, run rings round them. 

Old school, a real diamond by all accounts. Respect.
