you have got to feel for the guy for the way he was treated tonight by our manager.

why mcpake thought Mcmullan was the one needing to come off i will never know.

if i was mcmullan, i would tell mcpake to ram it hard where the suns doesnt shine.

From where I was sitting it looked like McMullan was on the verge of telling McPake to ram it and storm up the tunnel, but thought better of it.

Couldn't blame him if he did. Baffling decision

From what I saw on Dee TV, you could see him yelling at the dugout after he was subbed. Wasn't happy that's for sure.

He looked the most dangerous when he was on. Something needed to change but not take off our most creative player. Mullen was decent when he came on but it should've been for Griffiths imo. Get Mullen and Cummings upfront and McCowan and McMullan on the wings and we would've got something from that tonight. Shambles from start to finish.

It was an absolute cowards decision by McPake.

Also, we go in at 0-4 and he gives it 5 mins after HT to make changes. Why?! Why wasn't he spending HT changing things? Sending players on without a clue of their role.

In saying that, I personally thought McMullan was heading to the player's section that subs had sat in until the Aberdeen game where we resorted to using the dugout again.

Was he blaming McMullan for not providing enough support for Marshall at the first two goals? I’d have hooked marshall and gone 3/5/2 if a change had to be made on the left side.
Probably the most baffling of endless baffling substitutions in Mcpakes reign.

That was my thinking as well and tbh he wouldn't have been wrong re McMullan.  Providing cover just really isn't in his make up and numerous times this season other players have given him pelters for it.  But you are right re Marshall.  It looks like he is being found out.  Terrible defensive performance at StJ  and then tonight

McMullan was looking a good right winger and was creating plenty early in the season.

If you are gonna play him, get him back on the right wing McPake and stop fkn the boy about all over the park.

Furious with that tonight

Marshall was found out in the Championship quite a few times so no surprise for me that he hasn't been able to improve in the Premiership. For me it's his defensive awareness which lets him down and costs us cheap goals.

My view is that McMullan coming off was the wrong decision, and a forced move as McPake got it wrong from the start. Cummings deserved to start as our main striker tonight, shoe horning him into the team as a winger when he is a striker is McPake's fault.

I'd have went with Cummings up top with McMullan wide right where he should be and Mullen wide left.

Siging Griifhts when we didn't need a striker is causing the same problems as when we signed Hemmings when Johnson was more than capable. It's natural to want to sign quality players when they are available but teams like St Jonstone and Ross County are bossig us with jobbers doing the basics well with managers capable of targetting teams weaknesses.

This. I'm convinced we'd be much better off point wise if we'd be if we had an average natural deep lying playmaker signed late in the window to come in for Byrne or Adam during their absences.

Our bench was always insanely top heavy last season and I feel we've made similar mistakes this season. I get there's an attacking instinct fans like to see etc but we don't have depth in important areas and are then forcing our forwards to play out of position.
