Dblair, quite rightly raised the issue a day or two ago about "the missing" DBF Members, who for whatever reason appear to have decided they no longer need the forum.

It could be of course, they may feel they just need a "Wee Break" But as I responded in that topic, sometimes that "wee break" can easily develop into something more permanent. And for whatever reason (& it may be just getting out of the habit of posting) this part of a regular involvement with all things DFC, become less important ... especially for the more active posters, who are already leading a full life with work/family/friends/ as well as of course, trying to hold on their sanity following DFC (The Only City Club, that Really Matters)

Today at around 10.00am there were 15 active members oon the Forum....And 84 VISITORS.

Maybe I have got this wrong....But are these 84 folk, non-members, or simply members that have not signed in on the day? I am not taking a strong stance here, that everyone should be a member & "sign in" on the day. I accept each has that choice. But would it not be just grand (Is it not just grand?) to tick onto the DBF...And see it Going at Full pelt?

Recently, some days (weeks) I've basically decided "I'll give posting a miss just now" (I can hear the sighs of relief & even sounds of joy from here) :explode:

But truth of the matter is, it takes little to get me started & back in my stride again, & even if at time my posts are not great, does that really matter? :lol2:

On personal level, I think I honestly, enjoy the contribution of all posters (OK, some more than others) To go further some days DBF is a Lifesaver :happyyes:

So to conclude; Any suggestions to assist DBF, always welcome.

Whether Auld & Going Foosty, Young & Still in Half Daft Stages

Mature, Educated,  Full of Knowledge & Information; Get Posting.

Opinions are fine. But we are not here to judge ... We are all DFC.

An as wee reminder. Not every post must be all "very serious":chaplin:

I think it's all been said and people have run out of subjects to discuss, result it's the same stuff we discuss week in, week out. Difficult for lurkers to think about getting involved if it's like that.

DABs have started infiltrating, OK they get found out very quickly (they're not the brightest) but there seems to one that's openly welcomed - it's supposed to be a DAB free zone but isn't?

I also think we've all just accepted that the club is being run the way it is, we the fans are being treated the way we are and we're just not being heard. Why shout when you're not being heard? Trees falling with nobody within ten miles have more chance of being heard in fact (wee dig from me)

There a lot in what you say there Prince ... But each of us have our own personality (In my case , eh've got multi personalities)... And eh'm higing on to them :bye:

And whether it might seem, it's the same old views & opinions being regurgitated at semi-regular intervals, by the same "old-tired- posters" the only way it might change, is by the introduction of new posters who may or may not hold a general similar view/opinion, but come at it with a new slant & perspective.

The core of the forum for me, is that we are all, as DFC fans & supporters, in this together (Although I take your point re possible infiltrators) And so, although we might hols a range of extreme differing view, we are all ultimately behind one common cause; Success for Dundee. And with that in mind, I personally find, it is unlikely I will get ove- heated about any view that differs from mine.

Your last paragraph is something I am not likely to disagree with....

And although it might seem, raising these kind of issues & being critical, gets us nowhere, I am not sure that is the case. Other members read this & in turn add their voice to the argument...whether it is a case of agreeing or not.

And as I said in my opening post, although it is first & foremost a Forum about Dundee FC, maybe some other posters should occasionally remind themselves, there is a space for "other topics" And from my perspective if among the other topic section (or even the main body of the forum) posters would like to develop & include some "daft fun comments" it might help (when required) ease the pain & anger, bring a wee smile to a face, on some of our lonely, darker days....

Every post (poster) or opinion does not necessarily have to be taken too seriously

That's no a dig at you Prince. I like your style,

You've also been blessed with the daftness:chaplin:

Think this is the key. What's the point if nothing happens, Ground is a mess, only time posters get cross is when players turn in poor performance and McPake out Brigade pile in. It has become predictable.

Apathy towards our club has been talked about before and maybe it is affecting this forum.

Maybe we need a campaign about the ownership of Dens?

I think McPake needs to deliver some better results against the top teams. That might boost the support and encourage tdb posters.

I think we need a campaign re Dens/ new stadium/ Americans plans for the club. We have supported the club all our lives yet are in the dark re our near and far future.

One way could be a paid for open letter to Nelms, placed in the Courier/online asking some pertinent questions. A full page. On the other hand that could complete alienate the fan base further and have all the Dabs laughing at us even more than they do now.

I know Dee4Life Have written to Nelms on a few occasions yet had no response, it’s appalling. The other option is to storm Dens (lol) or stay away until Nelms has to respond.

My worry is that he maybe just does not give a toss? If so why are they here?

I'm sitting in the house with 78 minutes on the clock against Celtic. I don't think McPake will ever be able to deliver results against the top teams. I think McPake should go.

Dee4life have written to Nelms etc on more than a few occasions getting a response however is another matter.

Before lockdown an email was sent from (Nelms  I think) to Dee4life saying that they were trying to build a better relationship and would be issuing an invitation to meetings. There were at least 2 meetings held that I know of & Dee4life were not invited to.

I definitely find that I'm a lot more likely to come onto here and read whatever's been said when we've had a positive result. The majority of the time we're playing pish and losing and it's hard even to watch never mind read about all over again.

We have just come up. This season was always to be in survival mode.

We dont have enough money coming into the club. With only 4000 to 5000 at the most coming to a match and fairly low season ticket holders it is always going to be a struggle to attract top players. Charlie’s wages are only partly funded by the club. The club has a significant outlay in keeping Dens going, paying staff and players without sufficient money coming in
Of course we want a successful team but with limited finances it is always difficult. How has Livvy etc managed well they have managed to just keep themselves in the league and so have some additional income from the ugly sisters.
We have a lot of good younsgsters at the Academy but they are a few years off from being in the first team.
Unless we attract more punters to support us then we are going to struggle to get good players to come.
With the large gap between the number of supporters we have now and what we need just to break even means there is little leeway for Nelms etc to lay with.
The argument will be if we were playing better football then we would attract bigger crowds. I have seen better Dundee teams than this one but the level of support is just round about the same in numbers. I have been a supporter for over 50 years.
We just need to survive this season and hopefully we can kick on next season as we will be in top division again and can maybe attract some better players.

I'm sure many lapsed posters got sick and tired of being continually verbally attacked for posting a  view that was different to those attacking them.  In particular those lapsed posters who were perceived to be 'negative' about the club/manager/performances etc.

Not sure what a fans forum is for, if it's only to ring the praises of a club/manager/performances etc  and nothing else is tolerated 🤔
