Gents, I am not — as some of you might know — a Dundee supporter.

But I do have a lot of cracking photos of Dens from the past in these latest books. Indeed I use Dens as the first example pic in a chapter titled “Winning it on Corners”, in which I celebrate the cleverly-crafted, well-planned corners that football grounds used to have before all the new stands were built.

The books cover every ground in Scotland, and have 700 never-before-seen photos. They make a good Christmas gift for people who, like me, are auld fitba nuts.

Pity the pic illustrated seems to be of the infamous dog track era.

It is, it is from 1994 (the latest-dated pic that is in the book). I liked it because it shows all the stadium lights on, but not the floodlights. Highly unusual to see a ground like that. I think it makes Dens look huge!

The pic does that for sure.  

Just that they had to make the sacred Dens pitch smaller to accommodate the track.

Just read both Steve’s books, on teams and grounds, both brilliant. My Edinburgh mates love them too. Some great facts etc and some very funny stories.

I believe one dedicated to DFC is on the cards. Canny wait.
