Gents, I am not — as some of you might know — a Dundee supporter.

But I do have a lot of cracking photos of Dens from the past in these latest books. Indeed I use Dens as the first example pic in a chapter titled “Winning it on Corners”, in which I celebrate the cleverly-crafted, well-planned corners that football grounds used to have before all the new stands were built.

The books cover every ground in Scotland, and have 700 never-before-seen photos. They make a good Christmas gift for people who, like me, are auld fitba nuts.

It is, it is from 1994 (the latest-dated pic that is in the book). I liked it because it shows all the stadium lights on, but not the floodlights. Highly unusual to see a ground like that. I think it makes Dens look huge!

The pic does that for sure.  

Just that they had to make the sacred Dens pitch smaller to accommodate the track.
