Fan Behaviour

Recommended Posts

The behaviour of fans at scottish football games last weekend was disgraceful.

Rangers fans throwing glass bottles at Hibs players; Hibs and Rangers fans fighting outside Hampden and on the motorway; Celtic fans attacking a Rangers pub, United and Aberdeen fans fighting before the game and the boy pushing Ojo. All this in just one weekend.

I've not been an angel in the past and there are a few incidents of which I'm ashamed of but people really need to look in the mirror and ask themselves if their behaviour is acceptable.

We can all get caught up in the atmosphere and I'll admit to caring too much about what is just a game and I endeavour to do better although I'm nothing like I was years ago.

Incidents like this seem to be on the rise and add to the bad reputation of football fans. When you throw in the bigoted/IRA songs of the OF and the embarrassing behaviour of Aberdeen and Motherwell fans recently in Dundee , United fans throwing things at players at the derby I don't think it'll be too long before someone is badly hurt.

I love the passion of football but the other stuff is a minter.

I'd add that the SFA or Spfl should make the OF play behind closed doors for any sectarian or IRA sh**e. The clubs would soon stop it.

Same for throwing bottles etc.

Think taking points off their team would be a much more effective sanction.

Sectarian bigotry has always been and still is endemic in vast swathes of the West/Central Belt.  It's a blight on Scotland first and foremost and Scottish football.

Imo, those in power in both Football and ScotGov have vested interests one way or another and will do nothing.

I'm much the same as you mate, and fair play for admitting embarrassment. Recently I've gone to Dens less and went to smaller games and/or ice hockey which I've enjoyed a lot. Maybe I'm just getting old but I simply can't be arsed going to any game involving the old form any more and I'd certainly not take kids to that.
I'd love to see every other Scottish club telling them to just f**k off and play each other every week, the other clubs would lose nothing and gain loads.

On the Ojo incident why only one ban from Tannadice? Should be about 4 minimum and the kid throwing whatever he was eating at the player should be made to face him and apologise. They looked like animals

The fan at Tannadice was a tw*t, OF fans are mainly twats. But Scottish fitba is pretty lame compared to almost every country in Europe.

Anyone see the incident in France, the fighting in Slovakia, the usual in Athens and Istanbul etc etc

We do like to make Everest out of the Law Hill. I’ve attended games all over the world, and we live in probably the safest country to do so.

You saying we should accept what the dimwit DAB did and what the OF belters do and simply move on because other countries have bigger problems? Incredible attitude if you are.

Have you thought that maybe the bigger problems in those countries started because a fan pushed a player once and at the time people thought it was a 'pretty lame' thing to do?

Nope, quite clearly didn't say that.

We have issues, but Scotland isn't alone, nor anywhere near as bad as most other countries, that's what I said. We, nor any other country will ever eradicate issues completely. Its a big story in Scotland, and that shows how much of a stand alone issue it is, they very rarely happen here, the last thing similar was Tavernier at Tynecastle, and before that Lennon at Tynecastle, so maybe every 3 years?
