Phil Roberts was unplayable for 45 minutes the last time we nearly beat Celtic at Dens.

Any other examples of players having one brilliant game and doing little or nothing else?

James Vincent was excellent in the 2-1 win against Rangers if I recall correctly and Alex Harris looked the real deal on his debut as we humped Motherwell 4-1.

Sansara? The full back that looked OK in his first appearance at Dens followed by a howler in the challenge cup the following midweek. Never played again I don't think...

I personally think Harris did pretty well here and put in a few good games in addition to his debut. Immediately after Away to Aberdeen in the 3-3 and then the midweek at home to Killie, he did quite well (funnily enough Tankulic actually looked promising in those games as well leading the line) and everyone linking up really well. We actually were on pretty good form.

He looked timid and fell out a couple of games when teams put heavy tackles on him and struggled in a Celtic game (but not unusually so for a young winger) but apart from that, he didn't look out of place and all parties were pretty happy with how the loan deal went. We were meant to be in for him permanently but Hibs wanted to keep him on the books (or at least we didn't cut a deal).

At season end, the team collapsed when we'd scraped top 6 and Hartley started making plans publicly on next season and guys who weren't in his plans. Against the top 5, we didn't really land much of a punch and I think that put a bit of apathy round the end to the season which people maybe associate with him rather than the good run.

The year after he actually had a productive season with QotS and did well in some of the big games V Rangers. He returned after that as a squad player and was then injured for the whole season and released. I think he was a ver y talented guy who just couldn't fight back from his injuries and has just fallen out the full-time game - it happens a fair bit.

Martin Boyle. Slightly controversial

He wasn't bad for us but his performance v Hamilton he was totally unplayable and miles ahead of any other game he had for us

If we're extending the thread to include guys who enjoyed good spells at Dens but one day were truly exceptional, I'd include Savo for his hat-trick in the 6-1 rout of Accies at New Douglas Park.

His first goal that day won SFL goal of the month. He controlled a long pass from Gary Irvine before netting a wonder strike from outside the box.

"I took a great touch and it bounced up and I decided that I would lob it over David Hutton, " Savo said at the time.
